wrist straps

hey how do i use these correctly, i was doing deadlifts today and couldnt figure out how to use them on the bar. there the ones with the band that goes around your wrist and then it has one strap about 10 inches long. wtf
 
thats how i had them, but they felt really loose like they werent supporting any weight at all
 
use your hands to roll it back until it gets tight. P.S. if your using a bar that is knarled it may be hard to wrap over.grip it inside the smooth part
 
LIghtly wrap the extra strap around the bar then twist your hand until it gets tight and then grip the bar.
 
alright i think i understand. but it seems like it would be hard to wrapup the second strap one handed
