P.S. donjob and Live2Train constantly say "Do not overdo it" - but I have to admit that it frustrates me to leave a station knowing I could do more, I could go for another set, etc. I thought the objective was to go until you can't go anymore. I thought that's how muscles grow bigger.
Update on my Diet, Workouts, Muscle Development, Weight-gain and Body Metrics
Here's an update guys:
I have been gone for a while. As some may recall, I was heading away from the USA….but I’m back now. My working out is starting to feel great – thanks to all the helpful advice I have received...
Hello,
I've been around the board for a while and I've taken a lot of advice from the guys here. I've gained a 4-5 pounds since I've been working out, but I'm not so proud of my workouts. There's no real motivation (and please guys, don't come with the brutal "If you want it, then push harder...
Hello Guys,
I'm back! Like I had mentioned prior to my departure, I went to Europe and stayed for 3.5 months. The first part started with a cruise from NYC to England --- which was 8 days long. The gym on-board was not very impressive, so I only got 1 day of working out done. While in Germany...
I couldn't rest knowing that I just said this... There's nothing wrong w/ an overweight crowd of people, except that it's so hard to get excited / serious about working out when everyone (or 80 percent of guys and gals there) looks like skin-wrapped buckets of lard. And the fact that they have...
I live in NYC. All the gyms here, except Planet Fitness where all the fat people and penniless people go, cost between $89-300/mo. I'd say the average gym membership up here is like $140-$170ish / month. Remember, here in NYC, the average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is around $3,500, so this...
I just thought of something... My intake seems to hover around 2500 cal / day with about 500 of them being Cal from fat. It would be higher, but I'm way too lazy to cook more and buying more food, well... you know ($$).
So, in a couple of weeks, I'm going on my cruise. There's unlimited food...
I love how curls make my arms pump up and make my shirt tighten around my biceps!!! But, I don't want to tear anything, so I'll be responsible.
Maybe I'll reduce the weights and go lighter, like you suggested. In the gym, I'm always going for the heaviest weights possible b/c I'm trying to be...
This is a great observation. I do a bit of stretching my chest and arm muscles before I workout, but I never even considered stretching my wrists.
Earlier, when you suggested me not to stabilize my wrists during workouts, I was like "damn." The pain actually gets bad quickly... in like the 2nd...
When I first read this message, I was like "WTF," but now I see what Live2Train was talking about. I have started counting and charting my calories and protein intake and I see that I have been eating quite a bit more than 1,000 calories per day.
My problem was that I just picked up a couple...
Hummm... maybe. My subconscious has its moments. But, yeah, if my arms can just look like what you define as "average," then I'd feel accomplished. Remember, I don't want to look like a big muscle man... just to be athletic and normal.
As a newbie to the free weights area of the gym, I have noticed some difficulty in controlling my movements during curls, etc. Since my wrist muscles and lower forearm muscles are (admittedly) weak, I am experiencing some slight pain. The pain is temporary and goes away when I come home and...
I know... but they were just so much fun. And, the funny thing is that 'at first' they seemed so damn simple / easy, but once my form improved (by not stopping to let the weights touch my chest - because that causes a break in the movement, keeping the two weights together, and used controlled...
Sit-ups? I haven't see anybody doing sit-ups in a long time.... With all the new ab machines and all, I thought that was an exercise of the past !!!
I am sorry to hear about your pain, but as a back pain sufferer, I can tell you that whenever back pain radiates down your leg then you have a...
