I saw this posted today on "another" board. Sad thing is, I see posts like this almost every day......

Why dont i grow like the pros... or do I?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hey,

Question: why dont i seem to put on much muscle?

stats: 20yrs old, working out for 6 years (1.5yrs seriously), 6day split (every body part once a week), i am totaly dedicated to BB and can analise any exercise and muscle group. 185pounds, 14%bf. 3,500 - 4,400 cals per day (50, 35, 15% carb protein fat ratio). i lift as heavy as i can to get between 3 and 6 reps of each exercise with around 4/5 sets per exercise and around 20-30 sets per bodypart.

i seem to have only gained about 4.5pounds of lean muscle in the last year!

is this normal?

am i doing something wrong?

WHAT IS A "NORMAL" AMOUNT OF LEAN MUSCLE TO GAIN PER YEAR????????????????????

i am asking this because i am considering a steriod cycle (i have done years of reaserch on it), but am not to sure if i will be cheating myself by opting for a "quick fix". should i just keep pluggin away, or go chemical?

give me some feedback and answers, especially from guys that have been in this position before.

maybe because he "ANALises" everything lol
its true you see stuff like that on the boards all the time..most likely its a training thing as well as diet..it seems there are a ton of people who are afraid to eat and lift heavy!!

Well I can eat all I want and as long as I do:

6 days a week and 4/5 sets per exercise and around 20-30 sets per bodypart.

Like this guy is doing I won't grow either. Shit, 30 sets a bodypart I'd get weaker every workout.

yes i hear ya
:)

if i didnt read 'ology everything i would do at the gym and my whole routine and everything would be completely wrong. it would be 6-8 reps, tons of isolation excersizes, 1 body part per day(5 day split), probably no squats, and definetly no deads.

you sure?
yep ive got a air tight aliby , i cant count to 30 sets :insane2:
i know i use more sets/reps than you but im the first to admit that its VERY easy to overtrain and as ive gotten older[smarter] ive had to drop my workload down . i just cant handle set after set of tonnage like i could as a younger man .
