Hey Ladies!!!

I'm trying to lose about 10-15lbs...I've been eating mostly protein and I'm trying to cut out sugars and all those bad foods that I love to eat....I've been pretty much sticking to this plan

Breakfast: eggwhite with ham
Lunch: small bowl of tomatoe soup, salad, with fat free ranch dressing (no cheese :( ), glass of skim milk
Dinner: follows same as lunch....

I drink tons of water throughout the day...I just started running about 1.5 miles a day along with 20 minutes on the exercise bike, and elptical machine and a ab workout....

Do you ladies have any suggestion for me pertaining to my diet and workout...I just want to get into the best shape I can....I guess I can blame it on the 'freshman 15' ahhhh

Thanks!!!

You don,t specifically need to eat meat ,you can get your protien from other sources,,eggs ,fish, chicken, low fat cottage cheese .....protien shakes etc...

It's really hard to find healthy foods to eat when all I can really choose from is what my college decides to serve in a cafeteria....and I can only really microwave cook....which sucks!

That's not enough food hun. How many egg whites are you having for your first meal? with that meal plan that you gave us, you are definitely not getting enough protein.
How much do you weigh hun and what does your training look like? Weight training?

I'm 5'7, 140lbs

I should be more specific, I have an eggwhite omelet...I'd would say maybe it consists of 3-4 eggs...finding good food on campus is tough....

I have never weight trained, I'm alittle intimated by the guys at my gym and the machines (we have no women's section). I would definetely feel more confident with weight training if i knew more about it. I usually run 1.5 miles, with 2 laps as a cool down (800 meter indoor, elvated track) I do 20 minutes on the stair stepper as well as the elyptical machine....

What type of workout program/diet would you suggest for someone like me...I'm very interested in fat burners as well, I loved xenadrine until they took the ephadrine out of it...any suggestions? I would like to lose weight in my lower abs and hips, that where it all tends to go....

Thanks everyone for being patient with me, I'm still learning!

Hey Barbie Doll!!

From what you have listed, you're only really acquiring your protein at your first meal, and are only eating 3x a day. Add in a protein source (tuna, chicken breast etc) to your other two meals and add a couple of snacks (protein shake, almonds, 1 tsp natty pb) to your daily plan. You're not eating enough...Aim to eat 5-6x a day! Keep your carbs clean (veggies, oatmeal, etc) and try to eat as much quality protein as your body requires (you should post your stats which can help more figure this stuff out). Remember eat lean, you'll be lean, eat soft, you'll be soft :)

Msg Atherjen or Fyre, both these ladies know a lot of great info!
Good luck babes...I remember when I was there...college was the devil to my body! lol!

Good info Brenny.
At 140lbs, you should be aiming to take in approx. 140 grams of protein a day divided amongst your six meals. So, that's approx. 23 grams per each of your six meals. If you are unable to do that through food, then you may want to consider taking in a couple of whey protein shakes per day. Most of them contain roughly 22g of protein per scoop.
Get your protein sources from foods such as chicken, tuna, salmon, egg whites, lean cuts of beef, whey protein and if you're fine with dairy, milk, cottage cheese and yogurt.
Your complex carbohydrates sources should be oats, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and rice.
You should be taking in some fats as well. Far too many people ignore how important fats are. Get your fats from healthy sources such as olive oil, flax oil, almonds etc.
Try to avoid any processed foods.
Drink a minimum of 4 litres of water per day.
Also, try to take in at least two servings of fresh veggies per day, preferably greens. If that is tough for you to do, then you may want to take in some sort of greens drink as well.
I'm sure I've forgotten something but I'll post again if I did.
Good luck hun!:)

Barbie - I congradulate you on the ammt of cardio = cant say I do half of that. Maybe reconsider weight training - incorporating it will increase your metabolic rate therefore burn more fat and like Frye said, try to eat small meals, frequently through the day - with protein

ANd barbie doll dont them guys intimidate you - trust me, I bet they'd be more than happy to watch your gains evolve!!
