Some guys are too afraid to have their absess's drained.. SO they do it themselves.. I dunno, But i'd leave the bandage on.. that's nasty

That abscess looks like it was done at a hospital possibly. It is just a HUGE abscess. An abscess just requires secondary closure of the wound which makes the wound heal from the inside out. If you closed the owund (stitches) you would just create an environment for the infection to come right back.
