Any Hormone Experts?

Any idea’s what can help me? After more than a year of feeling like warmed over crap and getting nowhere with 4 different doctors, I think I’ve finally figured it out, but could use another opinion from some of the knowledgeable individuals here. I could fill several pages with my symptoms, but I will keep it as short as possible.

I’m a 48 year old male that used to be in damn fine shape and still fighting the battle, but losing the war. I have fatigue, dizziness, loss of muscle tone, foggy brain, fat building in the mid section that won’t budge and muscle / joint pain that’s getting worse, not better. In addition, I am completely wiped the day after a workout and have difficulty recouping. There are many more problems, but these are the worst of them.

After much research and fighting with these doctors that keep telling me I’m fine, I finally got the last one to order several tests that the others said could not be causing my problems. It seems to me that I am estrogen dominant, even thou my labs are in range. Please take a look and give your thoughts of what’s going on.

Pregnenolone 111 ng/dl range 20-150
Test Total 372 ng/dl range 280-800 was 100 points higher 12 months ago
Test Free 10.1 pg/ml range 6.8-21.5 was 12.3 12 months ago
Dht 29 ng/dl range 30-85
LH 4.7 miu/ml range 1.7-8.6
FSH 4.8 miu/ml range 1.5-12.4
DHEAS 180 ug/dl range 44-331
Estradiol 30.1 pg/ml range 7.6-42
Progesterone 0.5 ng/ml range 0.2-1.4
Estrone 53 pg/ml range 12-72
Estriol <0.3 ng/ml range not established
SHBG 33.8 nmol/l range 14.5-48.4

My understanding is that progesterone keeps estrogen in balance and the low progesterone may be causing estrogen dominance and reducing my test. Am I crazy or am I finally on to the cause of my problem?

Also… anyone know how to calculate the test to estrogen ratio and what it should be for a guy my age?

I don't really know how to help you so heres a bump for you. hopefully one of the guys will be able to

BUMP

You need a endo.

Agreed.

How do you sleep? What is your profession? Are you on other medication? How's your stress level? Drink tons of water? Any allergy symptoms? Family history illness?

Seems like answering some of those may help too. Good luck.

What struck me the most was the total test was 100 lower than a year ago...which has you 98 from the bottom and like 520 from the top of test range. You want/need trt..my doc believes men will feel better in the upper ranges. 7-800. I believe I feel even better way over that...but..
Go to an endo dude..

Went to an endo... he was worthless. These doctors seem to think that if you're in range, there can't possibly be a problem. They are either too stupid or arrogant to realize that not everyone functions the same in such a wide range.

No offense intended... but if I could find a doc worth a shit, I would not be asking for help here. Feel free to recommend one in the Tampa area, I'm all ears.

Most doc s are ..well...lame. Florida is like the capitol of LIFE EXTENSION clinics..look em up. When I was in Miami in the late 90 s they were springing up like weeds in my garden..I don t know if they are covered by insurance though...

At 48 your a PRIME candidate !
Test, gh, test. gh,
I agree, but every one of these docs refuse to put me on test because my labs are "not low enough" Apparently physical symptoms don't mean shit, unless your nuts completely shut down.

One of them said they would consider a minimum dose trial of some ridicously priced gel, that I would have to rub on every day for the rest of my life, but refuses to even consider injections.

I can deal with shooting myself in the ass once a week, but the chances of me rubbing gel on everyday, long term is about non-existent. Especially at $300 per month plus office visits.

Also... any idea where my E1, E2 & E3 should be? They're in range, but in the upper half whereas my pregesterone & test are in the lower 25%. It seems to me that this is just the reverse of what it should be?

Are you hypoglycemic? How much Caffeine do you intake during the day. Stress level?? Trying to assess cortisol levels. I have had many of those symptoms. Also, like the questions above, how well do you sleep? Your underlying cause can range from sleep apnea to sugar related issues.

I'm perfect all the way around with everything else. My sleep sucks... I wake up every night between 2-3 a.m. and from what I have read this is also a symptom of estrogen too high and test/pregesterone too low.

You're right. And this is another one of my problems when I have the same symptoms as you. I started a mild cycle about 5 weeks ago of test and EQ. Sleeping much better and most symptoms have gone away. I have some sugar related issues so if I mess up with my diet I can get some of your exhaustion type symptoms. I'm doing this cycle for 12 weeks to mimic kind of a heavy testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) type solution and I like it so far. Do you have any sleep apnea problems such as heavy snoring etc.?

I probably should have mentioned that I am taking 12.5 mg of Aromasin per day which may be the culprit in helping sleep, if waking up mid sleep is in fact estrogen related.

Andro-gel is lame. It stinks, recquires time to dry before dressing..sux all the way around.. but it s Step One in testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
They ll have you struggle for another 60-90 days and then do more blood work and then...maybe give you a shot. If you add up all the blood tests, co pays, going to the doc every week or every other week for a shot..it ll be pricey. You got insurance ? If your within range chances are they won t pay..even if your 1 point in range.
If your blood is all good to go..and your s is except for test right ? And you don t fear losing your insurance. Id do a light cycle..or heavy testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) dose..250 a week 10-12 weeks.
But you can t go near those same doc s cuz you ll be up ..way up ! You ll feel better..( I feel like a pusher..)

My test is in range, but quite low, as is my progesterone. This seems to be the major hangup with these guys. Even though I'm falling apart and feel like shit every day of my life, they say all is well because it's all in range.

Let me ask another question. If I do a cycle and my estrogen is within range, but towards the high side, will I compound my problems due to even more estrogen?
