Just wanted to know if any of you guys use Tanning beds in the winter months?
Noticing decline in mood and slight energy levels.
I tanned a few years back at a salon thru the winter and felt better, was thinking of trying it again.
Is the radiation from the lamps too much u think ?

Hello Apollon,

It's nice to use tanning beds to increase vitamin D and increase the complexion of your skin. I feel more healthy having a slight tan rather than having that white/gray zombie hue to my skin.

Seasonal affective disorders are common in Canada, Scandinavia, and Russia as the sunlight exposure is greatly decreased.

I feel better overall when I spend 10 minutes per week in a tanning bed. That is enough to keep me from looking so pale (I have blonde hair and very pale skin) give me some natural vitamin D and yet not be getting a sunburn. I also have noticed that Melatonin II can help me get very tan - much more so that I ever could without. Just my two-cents.

My Vit. D levels are good. Just looking at the mood boosting effects. My GP is a big believer in seasonal effective disorder
He told me it could be this rather than Low T that had my energy low.....lol
told him I felt like crap in summer too...lol
No, seriously there's some studies where people felt more relaxed after a tanning session...
It's been years since I've gone in....
Sun gives you serotonin. I'm sure the rays off the lamps help quite a bit too!

Definitely Relaxing for me

I find it very relaxing and even though I never go for more than a 10 minute session, I often will nearly fall asleep in that time. I seem to be more relaxed overall as well. I actually started tanning a year ago because my wife and I were planning a trip to Hawaii and as pale as I am I wanted to get some tan before I got there so I would not have to cover myself with SPF 50 every day, but I have kept up the once a week sessions ever since because I do feel better. I live in the Pacific Northwest where it is cloudy, dark and rainy for months in the winter.

I've noticed that too...
Like a drug induced mild calming effect....
it's good!
