Anybody Eat Chilli?

I've started making my own chilli, it's easy, it tastes good, and it's pretty healthy (I think)

I use a package (1-1.5lbs) of extra lean ground beef, cook it in about a tablespoon of olive oil, then throw in the kidney beans, green/red peppers, onion, mushrooms, tomato puree and spices. I can't really see anything in there that's unhealthy, and I like the fact that I know exactly what's in it. Seems like it would be good for bulking or cutting, since it's basically just protein and low GI carbs (a decent amount of fiber too)

What do you guys think?

I make my own chilli all the time.

I will cook the ground beef on the stove, then strain off all the fat. I then put the strainer under hot water for about 1 minute to wash off as much fat as I can.

After that I mix together all the extra's and simmer for a while.

I'm not a big veggie guy, so my chilli is basically MEAT and sauce.

Yeah, last time I made it, I strained off all the fat as well. I'm not that into veggies either, but I don't eat enough of them as it is so I figure I might as well throw some into the chilli

Any ideas for spices/flavor? The chilli I've been making tastes good, but its missing something

I use chilli powder, lots of garlic, pepper, chilli peppers.

You can also buy packets of Chilli seasoning in the grocery store. Basically just add it to the sauce and let it simmer for a bit. If I use one of these, I will usually add in some more of my own spices...especially garlic. I'm addicted.

Yeah, I throw in a few cloves of fresh garlic, then some extra garlic powder. Thanks for the suggestions though
