Anyone else unemployed due to lay off?

I got it!, join the army lol, I went to a branch the other day to renlist, I felt pround to do this again serve my country, and the recruiter sat me down, I did not say anything, he was motivated would not stop talking, and told me all the100 jobs they have for my son or daughter lol ,Im to old 37 yrs he said laughing, wtf was I thinking? id probley be the first guy to die,to slow for the younger dudes,lol..

I knew many guys who went in later in life. The problem now is that due to the economy, too many people are trying to get in. BTW, 75% of 18-24 yrs old are currently disqualified because they are overweight, didn't graduate, can't pass a drug test, or have a criminal record. Don't believe that stat? click here

thanks bro, but the army goes by a scale of age and bf %, they see me as a suicide mission lol, I know I can keep up with the young hero's , to the army im just a waste off tax payer money lol,..u may think its that easy to join, most of the time it is ,but the older u get the more they want to put u out of the game..I like ur avi bro very patriotic '' location :land of the free and the home of the brave '' god bless america, amen.

They go by a chart, if you fail the chart, then they take measurements. Your measurements are are ratio, neck to waist or some shit. I had to weigh in every month because I was considered overweight because I was over 213lbs at 6'3". My bodyfat was only 10%.

Yea i know, were all in the same boat. Thank god Obama is taking care of us with all the unemployment extensions. I dont really see much pickin up from a year ago.

WTF? Is unemployment a consolation prize for a 800 billion stimulus bill that did nothing? I hope you find a good job soon bro. I know in my state unemployment checks suck.

Ive been looking, had some interviews, but the competition is crazy. It is 100% an employers world right now. I actually got lucky, cuz i worked crazy overtime a few months before getting laid off, my unemployment check is equal to what a 40 hour paycheck wouldve been. They adjust it by your previous year salary, but yea otherwise the checks do suck.

Like you said it is an employers market (and a buyers market). Hang in there. If you graduated high school or equivalent, and can pass a drug test, and show up to work everyday then you are already in the top 25% of applicants. I heard that from the start of the recession to the predicted end, 33% of workers will have been hit by layoffs, that is based on the real unemployment rate of 17% currently. You hear 10% unemployment on the news, but that doesn't include people who's benefits expired or went back to college, or found part time work etc. BTW, my buddy has his Master's and is unemployed. Consider a career in health care even if you start at the bottom.

My Fiance has been laid off too! I have been working at a bar, but it's so hard finding a job. I can't even find a real job, only bars and clubs. Good luck everyone who is unemployed maybe you will find something soon!

Yeah I worked at a bar for awhile, Ill go back in the summer. But for now just 20 credit hours for me.

One of my wifes gfs works just on the wkends at a fine restraunt and makes like an extra 200 just in tips and just for sat and sun! That will def help pay the bills. Ive learned that some jobs pay alot better overall than you would think they do

Oh I make like 500-600 working friday and saturday night, but I also have 2 kids. I live in the city so it's a bit expensive. Not enough for a family of 4,especially with one in diapers!

yep, laid off last april... been doing a few freelance web and video gigs... but fuck if finding anything steady is good. also got fucked on unemployment... my company decided instead of laying us off they would fire us for various reasons. I got fired for "poor performance" when i was a top producer... but, yay for major coroprations, when they fired us they said in the group meeting "Dont even try to file for unemployment, we havent paid in 20yrs and arent about to start... and dont try to sue us, we have billions and we will sue you back for all you have." not. even. joking.

so yeah, getting re-certified as a fitness trainer.... and considering going back to my old recession proof job.... porn

Hey i dont know what state youre in but i hear you can still collect even if youre fired. You just have to appeal it and it can be delayed a bit. My one friend got fired from wal mart after 5 years as a dept manager, her claim went right through no problem. Also my dad was fired a few years back and unemployment told him that they cant totally deny you, as an employee you pay into that and its like insurance.

Yeah i dont live in a big city so everything is nice, quiet and cheap. I prefer the country.

My rent is like $400 for a 1100 sq ft apt and i get access to a spa, fitness room, guest suite and pool at no extra cost

Wow,I lived in the city all my life and in boston I was paying 1000 a month for a 1 bedroom. And in cambridge I lived in a 4 bed room 2800-i lived with 3 collage chicks so it was 700 each with nothing included. But I love the city

i'm surprised I worked as long as i did this year...... No one in construction has a job to speak of now a days.. :( I just got laid off last week. That is why I am showing my face around here again. BORED out of my mind already!!!!!!!! I'm gonna have to start pulling 2 a day workouts, lol. atleast I could focus on each muscle group a little more thoroughly.

About the whole military bit, I have 3 very close family members who live and bleed Air force, 3 other relatives that are/ were police officers..... And then there is my brother and I, lol. Stubborn
