Anyone have a Costco card?

Since I've upped my food intake I'm damn near breaking the bank just on food. I buy my shit at an Albertson's down the street which seems reasonably priced.
I was just wondering if anyone shops at Costco or Sam's Club and has noticed a difference in the amount of money they pay for food?

Costco is a must in my opinion. The best part for me are the guaranteed prices of meat/rice/etc... Not to mention you can shop less frequently if you have the $$ to spend in one shot.

I know the feeling. I found a butcher shop that sells bulk fresh meat so I can throw it in the freezer. But I do not use Costco or Sams Club. Normally navigate Krogers and try and make do. May be something I SHOULD look into lol. I aint made of dough y'know.

Yeah I think it would be cheaper for me to buy in one shot than to go more frequently and pay more. Not to mention it would be easier to plan my meals out knowing that I have everything I need.

Yeah the big hit at the stores is the meat. It costs me $10 for 4 small ass chicken breasts which equates to 2 meals or so. If I could get meat in bulk for cheap I'd be set.

Yeah man I shop at Costco every week and buy my eggs, chicken breasts, ground beef, steak, and ground turkey. You can get a huge ass bag of brown rice and your oats in bulk too. Costco was made for bodybuilders haha. Just wish mine carried effing egg whites.

I think I get about 12 large chicken breasts for 20 bucks, so yeah it's a big savings.

I used to buy at Sams, BJ's those type places. Now I just shop the sales.

When I see a good cut of meat is on sale for cheap. Example NY strip steaks were buy 1 get 1 free last week. I went in and bought 85 lbs!! Had them slice them straight off the rack 1" thick and large to weigh between 16 and 18 oz each. The end cost was 4.99 lb for choice NY strip steaks.

Shrimp was buy 2 bags and get 3 free!! SAY WHAT!!!!! I hit all 4 of this supermarket chain around my house and picke dup the special. 20 x 2lb bags Thats 40 lbs of shrimp in the freezer

Center cut pork chops on sale 2.39lb...gimme 25 lbs plz :)

Fruits I buy at the farmers market and the guy gives me a 25% veterans discount on top of the already low prices. I get things like 6 kiwi for a dollar, mango's for 50 cents. Pineapples for 1.50

I'm always on the hunt for sales!! Two huge side by side freezers in the garbage and a big fridge/freezer in the kitchen.

Always wrap meats well in wax paper, then aluminum foil. followed by a freezer bag. Lasts forever!

The best I seen in store is sometimes the bags of frozen chicken breasts are buy one get one free for 12 bucks. And they are 3lb backs of breasts. 2 bucks an lb.

You buy all that meat in bulk? What is your job? I need to get in that field! Because I could never afford that much food at once lol.

I started with 25 lbs one night then thought about it and went back the next day 60 more lol. 4.99 per lb for choice cut NY strip angus steaks. I had to do it. I'll save in the long run. They aren't used to that in sup[ermarket chains but if they don't have limits I will make them give me a rain check and they already know me.

The butcher sees me coming and knows he is going to have to work for a while

They are juicy and tender

I'm feeding 3 people

The shrimp had a 5 bag limit per store is why I went to 4 different stores

I really don't make much and this is a 1 income household here. I just buy ahead and stock up when stuff is cheap and at the end of the year I saved a ton

I have a Costco card now just because it's easier to buy in bulk. Your thriftiness is impressive. Maybe I'll see you on extreme couponing one day. And thanks for your service.

Damn, , Zeek the coupon clipper,,good buys man

FYI, you do not need a membership to costco or sams to purchase rx items or alcohol. If the card checker gives you shit just ask for the manager.

Doesn't hurt to start hunting too. Venison, bear, rabbit, duck ... not to mention fishing.

You're right brother. I went deep sea fishing (gulf of Mexico) with my brothers and father a few months ago. We brought in about 30lbs of red snapper and hauled in 2 female sharks. They were only 6-7 ft, but hey they were still sharks.. :beertoast

Yeah got me beat. I have the Mississippi to fish and lakes. I didn't hunt this year but I know so many damn rednecks that hunt for the kill more than the meat so I get meat even cheaper. I guess that's something to look at. Use Craigslist and see if people are selling and meat from their hunt.
