Anyone have experience in Night Club Security

snigg

That Dude
If so, please share some tips. I'll be starting work at a popular night club downtown next weekend and would like to hear some tips and tricks.

It's a dance club so there is about 12 of us I think. Not sure if ill be working the door, or inside on the floor. Bouncer/Security same thing. I just dont want you guys to get the impression that ill be working at some biker bar full of white trash rednecks getting into bar fights. It's a trendy dance club that draws a more upscale (20's-early 30's) crowd.

it may be upscale but there is alchool in the club u will see lots of trouble, find out what r there policy or rules first, usually club stand by a code of dress , and how far u can go when adressing a heated situation, I sugest don't beat down on someone u can get sued personally ,but rather upperhand the out of control person,be observing of concealed wepon and know ur nearest exit,.use common sence and listen and pay attention, don't get involve with chicks couse that could get u fired and it will get ur guards down, keep ur guard up and pay attention don't let nothing distract u from doing ur job,...

I know a bunch of bouncers and the good ones barely have to touch anyone. They use their voice, face and gestures to get their point across.

true that, but when things get out of control don't beat down, upperhand, u don't want to complicate ur self with the law,..

i'm making works in security... SGMB... and airport for ICTS

i done for the dance club for NATO basis... never had to use my hands.

my eyes are suffisent.

Im sorry but here in Miami u got to know more than that, I've been in the security buisness for many years, if u r saying that u have never had to use ur hand in a club, than u dont have enough experience, and in a big city u better back ur self up when opening ur big mouth and eyes,..I'am just telling u from my expirience,lol..

for about 6 years when I was in my 20s in a bunch of places.

Tips-

smile....you will get my girls.

Get girls...it's one of the pros.

Write down all pyhsical altercation in detail, bar/ company should have a log book for this, get it signed by the manager.

Hit with an open hand, when you can.

If you have a chance get work at a gay club or better yet a mixed club do it!....because they have hot straight chicks with their defenses down, and little problems with drunken fights.

get girls.

Kane red...where you were working, did it sell alcohol?...Lol... just your eyes, lolllolol

I am down with you Pinga...but the pay is low and you get shit from people, even get sued....so the upside of the job is getting girls....and it's so easy when you are bouncing man.

You don't spend all your time chasing, just get a number or better yet have them wait for you to finish work.

But get girls!

The place isnt a rowdy place, but I do know that things happen when alcohol is involved. A friend of mine knows the manager so he put a word in for me, thats how I got the job. That same friends cousin got stabbed there last year, so the possibility is always there.

It should be quite interesting! I have a real job so this is just part time on my off nights for some extra income. The added benefit of meeting some women couldn't hurt either.

For a few years after college off and on mainly for the girls (the money usually sucks unless you work door part of the time and can get "tips" to let people bypass the line)...

Just remember that any friction with anybody during the shift may attempted to be resolved by them in the parking lot afterwards. I could tell many many stories about that and about the girls... I'd rather talk about the girls :D

One of the prime benefits was for years afterwards I rarely had to wait in a line or pay for full tabs at nearly any bar in town as we'd know at least a few of the managers/tenders/servers or bouncers. Those were the days.

i bounced clubs from the age of 19-22... i loved it..

my advice? carry a 3 cell maglite and cuffs.. forget about pepper spray

do they do pat downs at the door of this club?? or is it free walk in? do u have radios? if not what form of communication? how big is the club? what kinda crowd does it attract? what kind of music?
is it in a bad neighborhood, ie gang affiliation hang out?

so many things to think about

bounced for years as well. The key is to remember that your job is not to fight. It is stop people from getting to that point. Now, will you ever have to put your hands on someone? Of course. But striking should be a very last resort. Don't let your ego get the best of you and throwdown with someone becuase you are a bouncer and you can.

As for physical tips, learn how to use arm bars, choke holds and different moves to restrain... not fight. Anyone can throw a punch, a smart person never has to. If you need help, search for "sentry-removal techniques" online. I was taught this in the service. Works great... well, minus the killing techniques. lol

my fav move is a rear naked choke, or anaconda... what ever it takes to make that sissy boy go night night... you solve the problem without laying a violent hand on the guy

no pat downs at the door. the doormen usually enforce the "dress code" which I think is just their way of screening out the people they dont want in there. no radios from what i understrand, i need to get a small light and im guessing thats how you signal your other bouncers that you need assistance. attracts a trendy 20-30's crowd, more of an upscale crowd. hip hop music. in downtown pittsburgh but definitely no issues with gang members in this place.

Im pretty well versed in brazilian jiu jitsu and no gi submission wrestling so im aware of many chokes, arm locks, etc. HOpefully that makes up for my lack of size(5'11 180-185lbs)
