Anyone have insurance pay for HRT ??

I just got a great new job that has a lot of insurance choices. I hear that BCBS pays for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) but United healthcare doesn't.

I don't know if this would depend on what state you live in, but I would like to hear from anyone who's insurance pays for or a portion of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or just the Test.

Sorry, I'm so new I'm not sure exactly what Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) means. If it's Hormone Replacement Therapy, where the hormone in question is Testosterone, delivered as Testosterone Cypionate -- i.e. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) == testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) -- then yes, United Healthcare covers it (in Texas anyway).

Not only does coverage vary from state to state but also plan to plan. For example, one BCBS plan in NY may cover Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and a different BCBS plan in NY may not cover HRT. You must check directly with your specific insurer to veryify the EOB on your specific plan.

I paid $30 for 10ml 200mg test cyp and 10 23g needles with syringes. Not sure if this is on part what everyone else pays, but I think it's pretty good. Do yall take HCG too? If so, how much is that with your insurance?

I'm having issues finding and being approved for HCG. My plan excludes fertility drugs, so my doctor has to appeal to the insurance and state that I'm taking it for low t and not fertility issues.

I pay for needles, sharps container, alcohol swabs, and bandaids. Insurance covers the rest! Your physician must code it as primary or secondary hypogonadism!!!

Anyone have trouble with insurance covering HCG? My Rx insurance won't cover it because they don't cover "fertility" drugs. I've tried appealing it and they said there aren't any exceptions. I now have to appeal to my medical side of the insurance and see if they will cover it.

There aren't exceptions, because it IS for fertility. HCG in the scope of HRT is there to maintain your fertility.

BCBS fee schedule has HCG @ $100 for 10,000 iu.

According to BCBS, it is not a drug prescribed for males in the ordinary course of practice - they classify it as "off label" and they don't pay nearly as much for "off label" applications.

i paid $25 each shot as a copay visit to my Dr. It went up to $50 a few weeks ago..$50 a shot seems outrageous to me. Hence I am looking for a new Dr. that will let me self administer.

I got Kaiser, you just have to be referred to an endocrinologist by your pcp; kaiser likes to scribe androgel - one month supply is a $15 copay for me; I've had shots before @ $15 per visit, but was too much trouble to drive to the clinic for a shot (cost that much for gas too! yeah of course its a full size pick up, what else?); my new endo seems to be open for self injecting, so I'm gunna pursue that after my next bw review on friday when I complain how the agel is not working.
