Are there any men's physique competitors that look big in clothes...or

I still don't understand why they need gear year round to be the same damn size all year

???

Most likely because they are bigger than nature intended them to be, and at a lower body fat than nature intended them to be. They need the help of modern science to stay as they are. Plus, it is easier to maintain your best than it is to fight your way back to your best. All is in IMHO.

Very lean muscles give the illusion of smaller size. They are still carrying a lot of muscle mass. How many guys at the gym brag about their size and weight and they are 30% BF. Lean them out to <12% and they will look SMALL.

I do see where you're coming from though, even though I would fare better in physique (I have some friends pushing me to try), I would much rather go bb and get my ass kicked by guys a foot shorter than me.

You ever going to try bb SP?

You bet brother. Bodybuilding was always my intention, only did MP because I came in smaller than I felt comfortable with for heavyweight BB (only class that someone 6'+ can realistically enter)

That's why I'm 236 (or was before this sinus infection smote me yesterday)...have to skip provincials (national qualifier) to put on enough size to be respectable at my height.

Otherwise I'd be chilling at ~220 lean, laughing at the bloofy BB'ers...instead I'm one of them :)

No one loves the way we look when bulking, but trying to keep things tight this offseason - I have pics from a few days ago up @ http://www.steroidology.com/forum/m...now-240-summer-edition-3j-16.html#post3616398

Hell yes! I've been debating on the very same thing, but as I'm stupid tall, I really have to pack on crazy mass. Even if I don't make it, I can say I did my best. Definitely going to have to keep an eye on your log, not sure how I missed it!

Depends on your definition of small.

Michael Anderson - 6'1 200lbs
Jason Poston - 5'11 190lbs
Jeremy Buendia - 5'8 185lbs
Steve Cook - 6'1 220
My height and weight is around these guys 5'9 200lbs, but everyone says I look huge like a bodybuilder. But that might be because I got no legs I dunno, its just how I'm built and my genetics are...

saying you're "too tall" to put on mass is one the classic funny ones I continue to hear after 20+ years of trying to be a bodybuilder ;)

a basic way to look at it is... an inch is equal to 10lbs... so if one guy is 5'10" 220lbs, for a guy 6'4" to be equal in bodymass he should be 280lbs (6 inchs, 60lbs)

I would like to clear up one false statement I read above a few times... physique competitors DON'T have lower bf% than bodybuilders... it's the opposite... and just like bodybuilders, physique competitors DON'T stay in "peak" condition all year round.

I'm assuming you're referring to my post CW? I don't have problems putting on mass at all, but as I'm 6'7", I would have to be around 330lbs at sub-ten percent body fat to appear on the same level as a guy a foot shorter at 220lbs. I can't even fathom what it would take to appear as gargantuan as folks that are 5'8" and weigh around 300.

I mentioned above that they're low body fat, but not in the 4-6% range as top bb competitors typically are. I was merely comparing them to the average person with a "beach body", that's all. :)

6'7 will be tough to fill out, that's for sure

For example it's my own fault my arms lag but 17"+ looks good on a 5'8 guy but mediocre at 6'...guessing you'd need 21" guns to look decent?

Sadly, I feel I'll have to break 23" to appear as built as the shorter guys. On the bright side, my triceps like to grow lol.

fuck, 6'7''

id be blowing through cash fighting heavyweights lol

id love to have that kinda size, fuck aesthetics - raw horsepower man! yea!

Funny how times have changed man. The bro in this post claims to be 6'3 265 and is a men's physique competitor. This dude would easily dwarf Arnold in his prime and is only 25 years old. I am 6'3 and it's safe to say if I were the same bodyfat as this guy he would still have me beat by about 35-40lbs. I would feel like a mouse compared to this guy.

Dude is Huge but he doesn't dwarf Arnold in his prime. That's simply not a true statement

Arnold competed at 6'1-6'2 235. In the pic, if Bradley is truly 260-265 he doesn't have 15lbs of fat too lose to get stage ready and even still that would put him at 250lbs. Arnolds supposed offseason weight was 260 and this guy appears to be carrying less bodyfat than Arnold during his off seasson

OP... don't even attempt to compare anybody from today (bodybuilders or physique) to the days of Arnold etc... science just didn't exist like it does today, simple as that

Arnold was so far ahead of everyone else by the age of 20 and that's just crazy... if he would have come along 20 years later... wow... he would surely have walked on stage at 300+

and to correct you... In Arnold's last Olympia in 1980 he was nearly 250lbs, not 230-235
