hey bud, use the tiny insulin needles that you'd use for hcg injections. 29 gauge 1/2 inch from walgreens, their so tiny you don't feel them and they don't leave noticeable scar tissue.
Good advice, but it's not needle size that matters, nor is it the pain. The key part of an irrational fear is that it's irrational.

I've had cavities filled without anesthesia just so I didn't have to have a shot.
So I appreciate where you're coming from, but it's not the issue. It's still a needle. So my "irrational fear" processor hears what you're saying like this: "If you're afraid of needles, just use the purple ones!"

The color matters as much as the size.
But, I'm working to get over it. Been working at progressive desensitization for a few weeks now. Started by looking at pictures of needles until that didn't make me feel like I was going to faint. Progressed to videos, got a package of needles (funnily enough, 29 gauge, 1/2 inch needles!), and set it on the bathroom counter until seeing that didn't make me faint...fast forward through eventually taking a single needle out and leaving it on the counter, leaving it on the counter with its cap removed, picking it up and playing with it, and in the last few days I'm now laying it flat against my skin. I've just reached the point that having it on my skin doesn't make my heart beat crazily and make it hard to breath. So in another day or two I'll stick it in...and then I'm well on my way to being done with that fear.
It's all about the penetration. I'd make a horrible woman.
