bent row hell

Hey guys!

I'm really f***ed up, so could someone please give me any advice on this:
I'm doing bent rows (or Dorian rows) for my back and a few months ago I had this pain in my right buttocks slashing right through my whole leg. It strikes at the moment I straighten my back, flex and pull the weight upwards. The same thing happens if I do deadlifts, or even if I correctly do seated rows (with my back straight and all).

I have a feeling it is a trapped nerve. Anyone had simillar problems? What should I do?

Hmmm, you could do bent rows by laying face down on a higher bench, that way there will be little strain on your back.

well, that is an option, but there's still deadlift and as mentioned seated rows.
I probably should go to a doctor and see what he gives :)

Probably a neuropathy. Nothing you can do but get some adjustments from a chiropractor and focus on using flawless form on those lifts in the future.

I am going through right now what you just mentioned...kinda. It totally feels like a nerve, but my doc says its a messed up ligament.

this is serious

sounds like disc problems
best solution is http://www.vaxd.net/about.htm

vax-d made me like new but had to pay $3500 from my pocket
not covereed by most HMO's

I screwed my back with squats
now i have grade 1 spondylolithesis
or degenerative disc disease.
now only will do leg press and extensions

IxiRancid: are you a bodybuilder then stop the
deadlifts, stop the squats ..you can grow just as well with other exercises ..or at least
reduce your load and increase you number and speed of reps.

I set up a simple belt which i attach to a post in the basement and pull on a ladder guizmo
so as to produce the same decompression technique in my vertebra. so now i can stretch my discs myself from time to time to
keep them in shape. It is what some people
call traction but only better.

good luck

BTW: most chiros don't do VAX-D
It's an issue of patents and cost of machine.
there is a hockey team (philadelphia?) that has one of these vax.d machines which cost ~$60,000

look at http://www.vax-d.net/testimonial.htm
tony impastatos's testimony

I've had the same problems from the same exercises. Some of us are cursed re lower back erectors. My conclusion: it's never going to go away for long, find other exercises and avoid problems that will only get worse. There are various machines that allow you to brace your back to avoid strain, or do rows lying face down on a bench.

i get that and i goes away, pain above my ass check down to the back of my calf..........syatic nerve? thats what i was told any way.
