ughhh

Last Friday i was training my legs, nothing outta the ordinary. Started on squats, then made my way over to the leg press machine. well on my 3rd set a few reps inn, all i really remember is holding my breath and pushing waching all the veins popp outta my neck.... then all of a sudden something blew in my head it was the worst pain imagineable, like a totall surge pulsing in my head.. this lasted about 5-6 seconds and then a huge relief and the pressure eased off. I swear it felt like my head was gonna blow clean off my shoulders
So what happened? Lets start with the obvious. i have a bad habbit of holding my breath on heavy lifts, and finally my body let me know it didnt appreciate it very much! Well folks this was a lesson learned. never again will i hold my breath on any sort of lift.
So anwyays after the pain in my head eased i attempted to walk it off, went outside and sucked some fresh air. then decided to call it a day considering i still had a slight headache. So i didnt think much of it relly untill i went to the gym last night and attempted to do a easy bicep work out/.... as soon as i got the heavy curls going my head surge came back, not near as intense but just the beginnning stages so to speak?
Anywyas, i thought id ask on here since i know lots of you peeps spend hours on the BBforums and perhaps uve herd of a similar situation, or maybe its actually happened to you or someone u know? if the pain keeps up tomorrow im gonna go see the doc
Im thinking i just strained the shitt outta a bloodvessel in my head, but when it comes to your mellon you can never be too careful

With a name like jizman that was a very catchy title.....I thought you blew a different kind of gasket?...Thank god you didnt :insane2: lmao

On a serious note that is scarey. It just goes to show you how important proper breathing is during a high intensity workout.

I would pop a couple of advil and take it easy,if the pain is still their 2morrow i would definitely go see the doc.Goodluck :)

same thing happened to my buddy. i told him to go to the doc who told him he tore a muscle on his skull. healed up though and never gave him anymore grief.

if it had been a stroke you would be dead long since. understand its scary shit though. like how the other night my bp was super high from some yack and all the veins on my boddy were standing out like cables...kinda cool at the same time though.
got some compliments from it but wow, soooo not a good idea!

I posted a similiar thread on other sites. Semm this is a quite commmon problem. Lowing the intensity for a week or two and the pain should go away. :)

I had the exact same thing happen many years ago. I slowly resumed training (breathing in much better form) and after a few weeks I NEVER had it happen again. Now that is not advice to not go and get checked out with a doctor, but it might relieve a tad of worry.

i had something similiar in the back of my head towards my neck. Everytime i started lifting intensely it throbbed. Went to the doc he couldnt find anything. Went away after a month. What you have could still be completely diff.

Yeah, I get these like once a year...usually on a heavy lift. It feels like something snaps or something, and then you get a throbbing headache on subsequent heavy lifts that feels like an ice pick in the head. I go to the chiropractor and that seems to help. They think it's your vertebrae slipping and pinching into a nerve.

my head has been hurting and i think its the eq i frontloaded. My bp is normal but i keep getting bad headaches and i turn red when doing sets. I think im gonna give some blood because my rbc's have to be very high.
