in the last few years my bp crept high. not terrible, but consistenly 140ish/90ish enough, spikes when I was stressed, that I started meds.
Started with atenolol and had issues with postural hypotension- when you get up and get light headed. Switched to bysolic, and had no problems until I wantesd to get on track with cardio. Bystolic suppresses pulse as part of it's mechanism. I cuold hammer away on the spin bike until I dropped over and my pulse never exceeded 128. It was nuts, and my gp said that was normal- cept I never felt like I was doing anything.
Just switched to losartan, and bp is back up. And it's more like 150/100, proly due to the added test in my system. So this med is a bust.
Anyone have a recommendation on a med that doesn't have many side effects and doesn't jack with your pulse? I've made an appt with a cardiologist bc I think my gp is just choosing drugs he reads about. I'm wondering if a specialist, when I describe the symptoms and sides, can dial that in.
...and before I get the flame about diet and herbals, my sodium is in check (in fact some have speculated not enough electrolytes with the cramps I had), and the weight is coming off with the help of IMT and improved test levels. But I don't need any surprise bp-related issues. you know, like a stroke.
would appreciate some input on your experience with bp meds. thanks
