Blood Work done - No sex drive, Feel shitty? - Low T?

I'm age 20, been training 2+ years.

For the past 6-7 months i have had barely any sex drive whats so ever, not interested in anything sexual, erections are crappy, just loss of interest in sex and feel like **** in the gym, no good focus. Went to be doctor and he said it could be down to low Testosterone or Stress, i don't get stressed, so i knew it wasn't that. Yes, i do have a fairly good diet and do get enough fats in my diet too, i have changed my diet quite a few times to see if this was the cause for my low libido, nothing. I don't FAP Either, no interest.

Supplements: Xtend (Intra), Creatine Mono, Beta Alanine, Omega 3, Multi Vitamin and just Whey Gold Standard. I don't know much regarding Testosterone, so needing a little help with the blood work below, my doctor says everything is pretty much OK but i do have a slight low in T, but doesn't seem interested in helping me and keeps referring me back to have more blood work, checking other stuff.

Serum Testosterone: 7.8 nmol/L = 224 ng/dl
Doctor says the normal T levels are from 8-27 nmol/L

Serum TSH Level: 2.6 mu/L
Doctor says normal TSH is between 0.3 - 5.5 mu/L

Theres a few other stuff on the blood work sheets, but don't think anything to do with my test levels. What do you guys think? Are these levels normal for a early 20 year old?

Same Boat but older

I am sorry to hear that and you are only 20.

Mate in 2005 I was feeling shit no sex drive, lack of endurance, no pumps at the gym, fatigued and generally feeling emotional down. In 2007 I had a Testosterone test and my results were similar to yours.

The doctors will probably have to test you a few more times.

They will have to determine whether its primary or secondary hypogonadism or something else.

You may be referred to a endocrinologist. I think they are overrated.

First you need to determine why your testosterone levels are low. This is first and foremost your first task before undertaking any treatment.

I am not sure which nation you live in so I cannot recommend any doctors.

So you need to determine the cause and reason first.

Cheers

T level is terrible for a 20-year old. more like the normal level for someone around 80.

TSH may indicate a slow-ish thyroid ('sub-clinical' slowness). iodine supplementation may help.

Yes, your T is very low. It is low for an 60 year old man let alone a 20 year old. You need to work with a doctor to get to the bottom of it as previously mentioned. Could be lots of things such as, but not limited to: poor sleep, poor diet, testicle issues, pituitary issues, etc.

Everyone gets stressed. Everyone. Don't kid yourself. If you don't recognize stress you can't manage it appropriately.

Thanks for Y'all replies.

I'm based in the UK for the question above.

I've been tested around 3 times already (Early Morning, with good sleep prior) and have all came back with low testosterone. I don't drink or smoke, ever and eat tons. Never took anything in terms of roids, etc. I've always had a fairly good diet with good and bad fats and over the past 2 years i have had pretty good gains with all the hard work and training. The problem i have though is just my sex drive, it sucks. Absolutely, i would like to see why my T is such low at my age before considering anything like testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), but as others have said, it should be sky high for someone of my age. The doctor though doesn't seem interested, he said he was going to send me for some brain scans or something if its still low on my next test, im not sure what thats to do with. It all started with really bad testicular pain, which i got checked and said i didn't have any lumps or anything, but later down the line as the months went on it lead to really really bad sex drive, which is where im at now, i also have bad erectile issues too.

I don't think i am stressed, but as you have said, you don't really know if you are or not. I must admit, i do feel really shitty in the gym and do feel like i am depressed a little, no good focus or anything, but still lift and continue my training. Friends say that my gains for 2 years hard work and good diet isn't very good, i don't know if thats down to the low T or not though. I'm quite new to understanding Testosterone, but do understand that testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) should be the last resort if im correct? I've heard stuff regarding HCG and other stuff but haven't really looked into it, so needing your opinions.

Just would like my libido back and good focus while in the gym, i guess if it is down to having low T, it really does suck.

Just another thing to add too, even though i eat tons and tons, i quite find it difficult to gain weight; currently on around 3500-4500 kcal /day, not sure if that has anything to do with T levels.

I'm <170lbs and 6 ft 1.

i wish i had that problem :) i have the complete opposite. (the opposite seems also to be one of the typical low t symptoms)

Sorry to hear that man! I know what you mean. Yes, just checked online, does appear to be the opposite. Anyone else have any suggestions to say on my next doc appointment?

Low T

The brain scan is probably to search for Secondary Hypogonadism. Ask your doctor has he/she ruled out primary hypogonadism through the blood tests or any other problems that may cause Low T?

You really need to get on top of this.

As for you eating alot and not putting on any weight do not worry about that you just have fast metabolism I did when I was your age. So for the time being do not let that bother you. Its not important as Low T.

Please keep me informed of your progress.

Thanks for that!

I will be ringing my doc on Tuesday to see if my latest results have arrived and what options the doctor is going to offer me. I will be asking if there is anything else causing it. Its my 3rd blood test, I think this time though he's checked other stuff. Everything last time came back normal, but the T level.

Damn I thought I was low with 200 @ 26.

Did you ever take "test boosters" from gnc?

Unknown pro-hormone usage I find is incredibly prevalent. The unregulated supplement industry in this country shall be thanked for that.

I know, it sucks. Nope, just stuck with the basics really and never taken anything to boost my Testosterone. All i have is creatine (pre/post workout), BCAA's (Intra), protein (Meal replacements and post workout) and pure beta-alanine (pre workout). Could someone like me actually benefit from a Testosterone booster? or would you prefer to work with your Doctor and get something done/prescribed?

if you want my un-professional opinion, your thyroid is a little slow, and your T reading sucks - (I know, because mine are similar) - your best bet is testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) through a doc/clinic (online, or other) - and maybe consider iodine for the thyroid - that's the route I am going.

Sounds like a good path.

Do not worry about any bullshit test boosters or any other crap. One they do not really work enough to alleviate low T. If you had normal T levels they would help a bit and I stress only a bit. They are over marketed and over priced and basically rubbish.

First before you jump the gun and try everything. You determine why your levels are low. That is the first and biggest step. Nothing else at this time matters.

Second once diagnosed you then look at the treatment options. And I mean proper treatment options.

Third you must determine if your doctor has enough experience to treat you. There must be a Men's health doctor who specializes in Low T in the UK. Your current doctor may send you to an endocrinologist or urologist. I would go for the latter as I found in my own experience the endos are quite useless and expensive you might have better luck.

After all that you then must weigh up the options. Please feel free do ask questions. When you see a specialists write questions down that you might forget once in an appointment.

All the best

Thanks very much for that!

I've got some good news, went back to the doctors today to check my 4th blood test and it came back as in the range at 16.8 nmol/L, very happy, but the bad news is that i still feel the same: no sex drive, no erections, fatigue, feeling quite weak and no focus. I've upped my calories even more this week, more fats and more meats, still not really helping, just feel like shit and my libido sucks. I'm not stressed with anything, no relationship problems, work is perfectly well, i don't know whats causing it.

Here is my latest results:

Serum Hormne Binding Glob: 43.0 nmol/L
Serum Testosterone: 16.8 nmol/L (484 ng/dl)
Serum LH level: 1.9 u/L
Serum FSH level 6.7 u/L
Serum Prolactin level: 152 mu/L

Any other advise would be much appreciated!

What's your estradiol at? Did you get that checked? And I can't remember -- do you suffer from sleep apnea?

P.S. It helps to list the normal ranges next to your results.

What was your free test? You have free and total test.

You said your other test were low what time to you get them time usually it should be morning when you T levels are optimal.

I would have some more Testosterone checks maybe another 2 or 3 to determine if that is a problem. But congratulation on the 16.8 result its well within the normal range.

My father who is just over 70 has 19. Last test I had was 2.8.

Here are some tips because you might be touch and go.

Do not put your mobile phone in your front pocket near your family jewels.

Try drinking out of glass and metal container limiting plastics. If you can avoid it try not microwaving in plastics.

How is your sleep? How is your general moods? Are you sad or irritable?

Get the scan done you need to at least rule out Secondary Hypogonadism.

I don't know what my estradiol is at, he didn't check my level

See lab results below.

I know i was wondering the same thing, because people said its all about FREE test that is important regarding muscle building or something. You can find everything he checked below, i don't think he checked my free test. I don't have big moobs, but don't have a skinny upper chest either. I am not really skinny, but not really fat, i am average build but find it really difficult to get ripped/gain good muscle, even though my diet is in shape and my training is too. My sleep is pretty decent, i have a minimum of 10 hour(s) sleep. I DO drink out of plastic bottles, do occasionally eat out of plastic tubs (i take to work); this will be changing.

Now that my results have came back normal, my doctor isn't really working with me, i have rang the help desk numerous times to ask for a doctor call back and he doesn't call me back. To be honest, he didn't really work with me when my results was even 7.8 nmol/L; i don't know weather to ditch this doctor and just go to the main hospital, but its well in the city. I'm still low on libido and feeling rather weak, feels like when i go to the gym im not getting anywhere? - As said, i have upped my calories this week, with more meats and even more fats and lots of more good greens, still no luck.

My Symptoms at the moment: -

No good focus (in gym and at home)
Fatigue
Anxiety
Lack of motivation
Lack of interest in sex
Depression
Feeling weak/tired
ED

So is the 16.8 results good for a 20 year old? Can it go back low again? Appreciate all of the help from you guys!
