Blood Work done - No sex drive, Feel shitty? - Low T?

I know i was wondering the same thing, because people said its all about FREE test that is important regarding muscle building or something. You can find everything he checked below, i don't think he checked my free test. I don't have big moobs, but don't have a skinny upper chest either. I am not really skinny, but not really fat, i am average build but find it really difficult to get ripped/gain good muscle, even though my diet is in shape and my training is too. My sleep is pretty decent, i have a minimum of 10 hour(s) sleep. I DO drink out of plastic bottles, do occasionally eat out of plastic tubs (i take to work); this will be changing.

Now that my results have came back normal, my doctor isn't really working with me, i have rang the help desk numerous times to ask for a doctor call back and he doesn't call me back. To be honest, he didn't really work with me when my results was even 7.8 nmol/L; i don't know weather to ditch this doctor and just go to the main hospital, but its well in the city. I'm still low on libido and feeling rather weak, feels like when i go to the gym im not getting anywhere? - As said, i have upped my calories this week, with more meats and even more fats and lots of more good greens, still no luck.

My Symptoms at the moment: -

No good focus (in gym and at home)
Fatigue
Anxiety
Lack of motivation
Lack of interest in sex
Depression
Feeling weak/tired
ED

So is the 16.8 results good for a 20 year old? Can it go back low again? Appreciate all of the help from you guys!

Ditch your doctor. I do not live in the UK so I would suggest you see a Urologist. Even better a Men's health doctor who specializes in such problems. But again you need to determine the cause. Is it Primary, Secondary or something else.

With the tests get them done in the morning when testosterone should be high.

Do you have copies of your results? If not do not worry once you find another doctor he can ask for them.

Do not waste your time with a doctor that does not know or care. I have dismissed a few here as far as I am concern those type of doctors are only glorified secretaries who are only needed to print my test result forms and prescriptions anything else they say I take like a grain of salt.

Your symptoms are very similar to mine except the top one.

So what you need to do is determine the cause. Anything else is just speculation. Do not worry if now and again you drink or eat from a plastic container once in a while should not hurt.

I'm age 20, been training 2+ years.

For the past 6-7 months i have had barely any sex drive whats so ever, not interested in anything sexual, erections are crappy, just loss of interest in sex and feel like **** in the gym, no good focus. Went to be doctor and he said it could be down to low Testosterone or Stress, i don't get stressed, so i knew it wasn't that. Yes, i do have a fairly good diet and do get enough fats in my diet too, i have changed my diet quite a few times to see if this was the cause for my low libido, nothing. I don't FAP Either, no interest.

Supplements: Xtend (Intra), Creatine Mono, Beta Alanine, Omega 3, Multi Vitamin and just Whey Gold Standard. I don't know much regarding Testosterone, so needing a little help with the blood work below, my doctor says everything is pretty much OK but i do have a slight low in T, but doesn't seem interested in helping me and keeps referring me back to have more blood work, checking other stuff.

Serum Testosterone: 7.8 nmol/L = 224 ng/dl
Doctor says the normal T levels are from 8-27 nmol/L

Serum TSH Level: 2.6 mu/L
Doctor says normal TSH is between 0.3 - 5.5 mu/L

Theres a few other stuff on the blood work sheets, but don't think anything to do with my test levels. What do you guys think? Are these levels normal for a early 20 year old?

how much whey protein were you taking? the whey is the cause my friend

before 8 months i took 3 scoops in a week and i lost my libido and had weak erections. that lasts 1 month and came back to normal.
but like an idiot before 2 months i did the same mistake again i took only 1/4 of a scoop to see if this happen again. after i take it the first 2 weeks i could barely have erection but i could, after that i couldn't have erection. 1,5 month now i cant have erection (with 1/4 of a scoop whey!!). and i am desperate. i am not trolling if you google it you will be surprised

No disrespect, but this is complete nonsense. Whey or any other type of protein does not cause ED or hormone issues. I've taken +/- 3 scoops a day for probably the last 12-13 years now. Whey is certainly not the cause. Please post any relevant studies indicating that whey effects sexual/hormonal functioning.

i try to post some cases but i can't

thats because there are no "cases". There may be people in random forums saying that they had ED while also taking whey, but that doesnt mean that whey had any direct effect on the ED. I could also say that I had ED on days that I drank orange juice....OJ is not the cause though.

i have found at least 45-50 cases who have the problem and they do blame the protein. and about 15-20 cases who had ED while also taking whey without blaming the whey (just like the starter). and yes its very rare 1 in 500 maybe. and its not hormonal. i have do all the exams and they seem ok. but i still have the problem. every person doesn't react the same

To clarify, whey protein is a derivitive of cheese/milk....I think we can agree that cheese and milk don't cause ED, right? The OP in this thread was using ON Gold Standard Whey, a protein that millions of people have used and has been studied in independant third party testing for ingredient accuracy. The whey is not the problem at all. I understand that some brands have plenty of other ingredients in their whey but that's not what we're talking about.
As others stated earlier, his thyroid looks a little slow and his LH was also at the bottom of the range. Whey is not the cause of that.

Sorry OP, i'm done now. I just get irritated when people post things like that without any proof to back it up.

I don't know what my estradiol is at, he didn't check my level

See lab results below.

Your LH is showing a possible issue here with your pituitary gland which can explain why your test levels have fluctuated on top of a mid-high level of prolactin. I'd see if an MRI is possible to rule out a tumor/growth causing this - if your current doc is unwilling to work with you, it's time to move on to someone that knows their ass from a hole in the ground.

Pete200: I don't know where you get the idea that protein from milk can cause ED or libido issues. This is broscience at best and speculation based on circumstance at worst. I could see an issue if you were taking a TREMENDOUS amount of soy protein as this does contain phytoestrogens, which do mimic those found in the body - decreasing libido, but I'm willing to bet you had something else going on at the same time that caused your issue. I too have been consuming whey and casein protein for well over two decades and have NEVER heard of/experienced ANYTHING of this nature. You would be amazed at how many things are said on the internet that have absolutely no basis in fact and are absolutely comical given the target audience. Did you know that there was a real scare regarding the toxicity of di-hydrogen monoxide? There were hundreds of scared people freaking out on how to eliminate their chances of dying from this all too common substance...until the jokesters revealed it is just the molecular formula for water.

My .02c :)

bigben34 my whey was on gold standard too.

halfwit until the day i took the 1/4 scoop i was sexual perfectly healthy after that day i have hard time to keep an erection i have lost sensation and ejaculate watery semen flaccid. i also had prostatitis. i didn't took anything else only the whey and i had the same problem before(after taking whey). but now its worse. i have seen a lot of whey users with same or almost same problems. the most ed cases on google are related to either whey or propecia (for hairloss). i dont tell that the starter has the same problem but i tell its quite possible. i still want to believe that its all in my head but the symptoms are very real. anyway if you google it you will see a lot whey users with those symptoms

Pete, I believe you 100%, and your symptoms are not in your head but the whey didnt cause those symptoms...

The problem is that you're relying on google for your answer. After 15 minutes of playing around on google, I found that not only does whey cause ED and impotence, it causes prostate cancer and can cause insanity. Oh even better yet, apparently hot chocolate and aspartame (same search parameters) can do this as well as cause sterility. I'll let you be the judge if you think this is rational thought or not.

As bigben34 stated, there's no doubt that what you're experiencing is real, but I think you're looking at the wrong root-cause. The big exception here being if you are allergic to dairy. That is the only science-based factual explanation I could find that could possibly match your symptoms with your cause. Take from that what you will, but I think we're clearly hijacking this thread and if we want to follow this debate to a great length, should start a new thread for those purposes.

+1

plus, correlation does not equal causation, though people do it all the time.

Is there any chance that an angry ex-girlfriend or one of your buddies put something in your Whey to mess with you? Seems like a more likely explanation. You probably have a contaminated batch.

Pete Low T is a serious issue. There is more than enough bullshit herbal, natural and other dubious treatments out there. Whey protein will not improve or diminish Testosterone. If you have any evidence which I sincerely doubt to prove otherwise then post it.

Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein--same issue as others

Pete, I believe you 100%, and your symptoms are not in your head but the whey did not cause those symptoms...

After 15 years of a really healthy labido, about 12 days ago no interest in sex, can't keep an erection. This is not normal for me at all. This is someone that has had literally no issues with this in 15 years of marriage and usually "perform" at least 2-3 times a week.

I found this website after doing a search on different supplements I am taking, trying to figure out what I changed in the past 12 days. I found a forum that mentions whey protein can cause this. And I just realized laying in bed last night that I bought a different type of whey protein at Costco 12 DAYS AGO that I had never taken before. It was new at Costco and I decided to try it. It's Optimum Nutrition Whey Protein(pre-mixed liquid). I bought it on a Saturday morning, took at least once during the day and had sex that night. I noticed during sex I was starting to have issues, not as hard, etc, but I thought it must just be stress, etc. Next night I can't even get it up, literally I think the first time in 15 years. Now 12 days later and I havn't had an erection, no interest in sex, etc. Usually I am ready to go in minutes! I really had a healty labido until 12 days ago! ONly thing that changed that day was this new protein I was taking. This is no joke.

I am taking creatine, BCAA, and glutamine, but I have been on those supplements for at least a 6 weeks now. About 6 weeks ago I started lifting heavy again like I did in college and decided to start supplements again. But once again, I had no issues until the day I took this new protein!

I don't believe in coincidences, and this is much too much of a coincidence for me! Nothing else has changed in my life, my personally owned business is going great, nothing else has changed at all.

I have found other forums that also mention the same Optimum Nutrition whey protein causing them issues. I know it's not scientific, but after reading about the Optimum Nutrition protein on that forum it was then I realized I also just started taking this protein the day I started having issues.

I am going to stop taking this whey protein and see if things improve. I just don't understand this at all, it's really freaking me out. What else could be causing this?

Thanks for everyone who replied. Been over a year since i posted on this thread back in 2013. Been hanging around and reading a lot on the forum. After doing all the blood work with the doctor i was working with, guess what? he actually left the practice. I gave up and finally i came to the conclusion that they didn't care and was taking weeks to get an appointment. I was busy with work anyways, I just gave up and started working more towards my diet and dropped the supplements for a couple of months and had a couple of weeks break from any type of training.

Over the last year, it has been on+off. To be honest, sometimes i felt ok, then all of a sudden it went all down hill. Depression, Sex drive went very poor for around 2-3 weeks, low energy, it was like it just hit me and stayed with me for weeks, then everything was ok for a few days and it would repeat.

Anyways, I started taking high doses of an AI, it kind of helped my attitude a little more and also helped leaning out my upper half, it also helped my depression, but the weakness/low energy feeling was still there and was really affecting me when in the gym, (Yes, was getting a nice pre-workout meal in there) it was that bad, sometimes i still had to go home i was that weak, kind of like the feeling of eating nothing all day then going to the gym. I couldn't understand it, i was hitting all of my macros and also training was spot on as well.

Finally, when i started to lose muscle mass, then it started to affect me big time. I was gaining fat around my mid section and also my traps and bi's had pretty much gone right down. It pretty much felt like i was eating 1000kcal /day and had cut all of my carbs out while doing hours of cardio, thats how bad i felt. It actually made me not really want to work out anymore after all the work i had put in was starting to fade away, i know this was definitely health related.

After a while, i still continued to hit the gym hard and hit my macros, i pretended everything was alright, i could see everything i had was fading away, i knew this was due to Testosterone, i know for a fact it wasn't my training nor was it my diet, my PT also agreed something wasn't right.

Decided to get them checked again and results came back on 16th June:-

Observation:- TESTOSTERONE
Your Result:- 9.5~Reference Ranges apply to adults nmol/L (Converts to: 273 ng/dL)
Normal Range:- 7.6 - 31.4
Status:- Normal

HE TOLD ME MY RESULT WASN'T THAT BAD?? Clearly told the doctor, it might be well within the 'normal range', but clearly not normal for a 21 year old. I asked him what the normal range was for my age and he didn't know. All he said, i had to have another blood test result, awaiting now for the new test results. How the hell do these doctors get employed? It pisses me off. Had anyone else had these problems with doctors not helping? Why won't they just help? It's not going to hurt is it..

I have all the symptoms mentioned when i first created this thread in 2013, nothing had really changed, oh, accept i have lost shit ton of muscle. Will keep you guys updated.

Any advice?

You need to find a doctor willing to work with you and get to the root of what is causi g your Low T. You are in hypogonadal range. I didn't go back and read all the old posts, but you need to check your LH, FSH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH and Vitamin D.
