I just wanted to reach out to my fellow brothers in the most "politically correct" manner possible and address a..... umm... touchy subject. lol

There have been many question's and concerns surrounding the "PSA" or PROSTATE-SPECIFIC ANTIGEN TEST that is typically included in a complete and comprehensive blood work-up. THIS IS NOT A PHYSICAL PORTION OF ANY TEST THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH ANY FORM OF ANAL-PROBING OF ANY TYPE.

Your "PSA" levels are derived directly from your blood work and not anything unwanted entering your "BOOM-BOOM". LOL

Good info Chip, I'm planning to get a PSA every year. I can't remember off the top of my head but is the PSA included in the bloodwork for your trt?

This PSA is something I never really thought about until I got my physical to start trt. After learning that I was on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), the Nurse Practitioner kept telling me that testosterone directly causes prostate cancer and that I was going to have major problems being on trt. I told the stupid bitch she didn't know what she was talking about and needs to stop giving out false information like it was fact.

Can someone explain the relationship between testosterone and prostate health/cancer

Honest to God, bro. I don't really think its a stretch though. I think most people associate "prostate" with having to get something put in their ass. Lol. Just wanted to add some clarity to the topic.

The one thing I can NOT, for the life of me, understand is how a race of human beings can put a man on the moon, build incredible computers, skyscrapers, do microscopic surgery on your retinas..................but still have to shove their finger in my ass to tell me if I have a problem with my prostrate!!!! It drives me nutz!!!! My doctor told me that he is quick and gentle...............I told him that didn't make me feel any better.......
 
As long as both hands aren't on my shoulders while he's doing it... LOL!!!

Maybe I should find a female PC provider?
 
Hey Chip, what are your thoughts on this test (PSA)?

My doc does it to keep the insurance company happy but thinks it's a lot of crap for the most part and not particularly useful for predicting prostate cancer.

Huh. Well, I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe that's the reason I got a funny look from the nurse the last time I went in for labs. I was raised Catholic. It's perfectly normal for me to drop my pants and bend over.

Honestly, most "docs" say that if your total test level is 300, that you are healthy and "in range"...:wtf:

All any of these tests are is simply a "marker" to show where a certain level of whatever is being tested, lays. IMO, its only "a lot of crap" if some egotistical, ASSHOLE "physician or M.D." CHOOSES not to interpret it properly. Just as most of these COCKSACKS CHOOSE to say we are perfectly healthy even if our test levels are in the tank! Furthermore, I'd bet my ass that an Oncologist would find great value in a test that shows markers for cancer. I'm not sure if the doc you are referring to is an Onco or not, but if not, it doesn't surprise me that he finds little/no value in a test related to an area of medicine that he has no expertise in. I hope you don't think I'm coming at you, bro, I'm not. I just have little/no use for most docs in general. I lost my mom to breast cancer, due in part to some inept FUCKS, and "Doc Talk" tends to fry my ass.

No worries, I don't think you are coming at me. My doc is an old guy (in his 70;s) but stays real current with latest medical journals and findings. He is the first one that went with my request to test my test levels and was cool enough to switch me over to injectables after the androgel stuff didn't work out.

I know what the test is and what it is supposed to test for, problem is in the latest studies he was showing me the correlation between PSA levels and prostate cancer were not as direct as the cancer institute folks have been making them out to be. Turns out loads of guys are walking around with out of whack PSA levels and NO prostate cancer.

I'm not coming at you or anything either, but latest thinking seems to be this test is not the holy grail indicator of prostate cancer likelihood it once was. Also breast cancer is a tough comparison to prostate cancer since the mortality rate from breast cancer is so much higher than breast cancer and the testing modalities are so different.

Personally, I'll believe the finger up the ass way before the PSA test.
