Bloodwork and physicians orders...

So i scheduled an appointment with labcorp online and nowhere did it give me an option of choosing which tests i wanted. So then i receive an email saying i need to bring a physicians order which i assume would have the tests they would be doing. So is a physician order required by labs to do work?

Im not using PrivateMD to buy tests since my insurance covers 100% of any labwork thru labcorp. This is the first time im trying to do it on my own and not going thru a doc or privateMD site.

I also have insurance. But good luck finding a Dr. That will test for everything in the female hormone panel. My urologist kept telling me that checking estrogen was only need for obese people.

I got fed up with it and just paid for it myself. If you do it this way you don't need a Dr. Just go through the steps and pay yourself. With the 15% off (just Google the discount code) and it totals $50. A few hours later you get your printable bloodwork order. Go to labcorp, give them the order and for me I'm back in my truck within 15 minutes. I usually receive my results in less than 24hrs.

Of course you may get lucky and find a Dr. That will agree to order a complete panel and your insurance will cover it , good luck.

Blood drawn @ 7am Monday morning & results emailed @ 8am Tuesday morning. No Dr. contact. I'm very grateful to have been informed of Labcor by these forums.

If you want your insurance to pay you'll need a Dr. Most of us even like myself with insurance just spend the $50 to get the labs on our own. Heck the knowledge here is far more vast than any Dr. I've been to and I don't feel like going through the bs.

Sorry if it didn't help but this test really gives a ton of info from blood related test to hormone levels (2 full pages) my Dr. Would order test levels and that's it. It's well worth it especially when trying.to get dialed in properly, the time finding a good Dr. Just prolongs the dialing in process, and if you get one of the many ignorant Drs. You'll see why most of us just do it solo.

Besides that if you're copays are $25 its only 2 visits. When my current stuff runs out in Dec I may go to my dr. And say this is what works for me will you prescribe it? I just don't want any Drs I know trying to dial me in.

Yes I agree that a clarification on the above would be much appreciated. Also I believe that the laws may vary from state to state. I know in Florida quest may not prove results directly to patients just to doctors, at least that's what I read on their website.

im trying to find a way to skip the doc and get the tests done on my own. privateMD labs isnt a doctor yet you can pay them to get the tests done thru labcorp. that skips the whole doctor thing. i want to get it done without the doctor and without paying out of pocket. there must be a way since you can get it done without a doctor involved. on the labcorp site it says a doctors order or "authorized person" can order the tests.

well id rather not pay 50$ if i dont have to. insurance covers 100% but i guess i need a doctor to order it. also i dont want the female panel. i want the male panel which cost a lot more. female panel doesnt give you all the info just some.

If you were an insurance company would you pay for labs just because the patient thought they needed it. I've got a headache, my insurance needs to pay for me a lab....hell no man. That's absurd. Drs. Are used to make sure the insurance claim is needed.

Bottom line either go through a doc and your insurance or pay $50 and do it on your own. It's that simple.

Oh and about not wanting the female panel..... That's the one everyone uses because it gives the basic info we need and its cheap. One of the last steps will ask you your sex. When you print out the lab request it won't say female anything on the request.
