Bodybuilders psychology. Question for you guys.

I was a junior in high school, 5'11 around 120lbs and was sick of being small. Up to 187 now. Seems to me like most of the guys with this issue were former skinny guys. Makes sense, no matter how much weight I put on my joints are still bony and I hate that shit, makes me feel small.

^^^agreed with the skinny guy thing. The only negative part for me always feeling small is im afraid to cut. Im so terrified of losing muscle on a cut that i,ve been permabulking for the last 5 years. im at 18% bf right now 6'' 215lbs. I tried cutting and about a month in i was looking flat due to not taking in as many carbs. Hated how i looked and felt small. So i continued bulking hence my 18% bf lol. I'm 24 now and slowly getting over the body dysmorphia. I really want my abs back haha

Thats great, and so true, and why this sport is so cool, its never ending. Its very hard to get to the point where you say hey, ive gotten as good as i can be, theres no need to continue. You can always get bigger, then when youre there you could be more ripped, and then bigger, theres ALWAYS another goal once youve achieved the one you just previously put in place. Theres so many levels to whats going on its, an its a challenge, and its great when you can say shit, i hit that certain weight or BF% or i lifted more than i ever have. Its a fuckin good feeling. And as neurotic as we can be sometimes, at least were bettering ourselves and our health and lifestyle, rather than sittin on the couch all day being a slob.

My thoughts exactly, brother!

I still have it most days, especially if I don't wear a tight shirt, gay right? I wear tight shirts to make me feel bigger, I can't wear loose clothing or I'll feel even smaller

Sometimes when I see people that I haven't seen in a while they will say something along the lines of "You been lifting?" My standard response is "Na, I'm just buying smaller shirts."

Side note: Besides lifting, one of the best things you can do for your appearance is to find a good, cheap tailor. I pay a lady $7 a shirt to tailor them for me. Being tall and in good shape it's nearly impossible to find clothes that fit. Seriously, find a tailor... you'll feel like a million bucks!

I finally just watched that vid....GLORIOUS.

I love the brote`ge`... "This is the one and only time you'll think you're big. So fucking true.

I have all the traits of the final stage, except the ridiculous size, but I am big enough to get the, "you're to big" remarks from women. Or my personal favorite, "Ew.....why do they [veins] stick out everywhere like that?"

I am not even big and I get those comments lol. I don't understand people.

I'm not either, bro. Ask yourself this though....Would you rather be "normal"? That is the last thing I would ever want to be. Like I said, use it as motivation, and in the time being, just remind yourself after each comment you get that at least you're not the guy staring at you, wishing he was your size, you're not a "normal" person, you HAVE come a long way since you began, and while you still have room for improvement...you may be the only one that sees it-and guess what....you are the only one that matters.

Over the last 10 years I've weighed anywhere from 225-280 @ 5-09. Always carried a fair amount of muscle and never thought of myself as real big. Then I walk by a plats glass window and say who's that big dude lol.

A successful bodybuilder can take constructive critisism and make themselves better without a complex
