I have been lurking around this side of the forums and am trying to get my winter bulk as clean as possible. One thing I have noticed is the grocery bill shoot thru the roof! Any experienced folks on here have any wallet friendly bulking diet tips?

i always look at the circulars that get delivered to my house. there a few groceries in them and i just look for $1.99 chicken, pork loin, or beef (80/20 so you have to cook it down and wash out the fats....but is wayyyy cheaper than 93/7)..... on of the 3 stores will have one or two of my meats for $1.99 and tuna for $.90 per can..... and when then do i buy the sh*t out of it.
another thing is to weigh your protien before you eat it .... if you r just cooking up two breasts of chicken and eating them that might have been 1.5 servings and you could have saved the .5 serving for your next meal. i usually eat 8oz per meal. and ofcourse CARBs are cheap so i dont think we are talking about them.... but again some days pasta is 1.65 per box and some days it is .80 per box..... get the circulars and shop the sales.
good luck...... i do not see a huge savings from BJs or Costco.

Hmm that makes sense. I think I'll save those random papers in the mail now. Can't wait to give it a try! Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated!

Yea you just have to shop around and find deals eating healthy is expensive. I shop at three different stores and normally I find what I'm looking for on sale

Start buying the cheaper cuts of meat (ie less tender) these are often just as tasty as the dearer cuts, and with bit of extra preparation can make very tasy meals.
I usually buy beef like topside (not sure what this is called in US), which is a lot cheaper than other cuts, and i cut my own steaks.
Also got a small meat tenderiser from ebay, and use this on the meat pin the meat, which helps tenderise it a lot.
But yeh getting a good deal from your local butcher really helps if you can afford to buy in bulk.

Check out Costco if you can - frozen bulk chicken and fish!

I shop Costco, and I find their fresh chicken breast to be slightly cheaper when on sale than their frozen chickb. I also hear that when meat is frozen it loses some of the nutrients. Benefit to frozen is that it won't expire as fast...even though u can still freeze the fresh stuff, which sometimes expires pretty quick (exp date drives the sales price). Frozen my be easier, but fresh is best.

When I went to the local Savemart today I noticed the fresh chicken slices and steak closer to expiration date was $3.00 off! Think I will try and schedule my shopping for these days haha. Stocked it up and froze em all :)
