Calves twice a day to get growth?

Yesterday I trained my calves early in the morning and then again about 6 hours later. Today my calves are sore. Im ecited about this because they never get sore anymore and I usu train them eod to ED . High volume , heavy weight, you name it. In all the hard work I have done in the past year and a half I have seen them come a long way. But unfortunatley they dont look like I trained them at all when they are not pumped. When I am training them they blow uu good and have veins popping and they are hard and full of blood.... few hours later they are nothing. So I think hitting them twice a day may be the next move.

Seems like over kill but doesn't hurt to try it. Do u use all angles toes in, toes out, toes straight? It works really good

Yes all angles, high wt low rep, low wt high rep, every machine, standing toe raises in between sets while Im training upperbody, aggresive pushing off the toes when on the tread mill... Im working it hard !!! LOL And yes it is working , but so slowly and the mass just isnt really coming in. When god made me he mustv gave me cricket legs but put em on backwards!
If hitting them a second time in a day doesnt do it then I have to start taking ballet.

Mine use to suck I think they look decent now I got some 18's lol I like heavy pause reps on seated machine. I work them first in leg day to make sure I hit them to failure.

What I know about calves is that they can take much abuse. Look at this, every step you are raising your body weight. How many steps do we take over the course of a day. We walk up a flight of stairs and we put them to above average work (compared to walking). Then we walk down and then again sometimes. See the usage?

So yes a hard workout heavy sets and another workout n lighter weight with mega reps. What I'm suggesting is that the calves can handle much more training than the other les used body parts. Calves will endure.

WE always have to listen to our body (pain n soreness) and with that we can always slow down and get rest in there. As per what most everyone has said mix it up, the toes, reps, extension down and stretch up. Just keep in mind that they can handle more.

Also as 49er, do them first and then you can concentrate and you will get more serious

100% agree Mike, like I said I wasnt even feeling soreness anymore with daily training. SO if I squeeze in a second session during the day (maybe not all days, perhaps train em twice EOD) it may just be the thing that catapults them over the edge. Just gotta watch I dont overdo it so much I hurt my ligaments..

What does your calf training routine look like Anzel?

I will do seated calf sometimes heavy and do 5 sets of 10-15 reps other times I may go lighter (half the weight of my heavy work) and do 5 sets of 20-30 . Then I will do Donkey raise... as long as I have no pain in my ligs I will go heavy... the whole rack plus a 45 lb plate on top and go for as many sets as I can of 10-15 reps. With donkeys I drive the weight up and hold it a sec and then lower with a good stretch. I am usually dripping sweat when doing these. I can usu get off about 5 sets. Then I do a rotary calf machine. Your seated but legs are straight. These I usu do a lighter weight and go for a good deep stretch to activate the front shin muscle. Again I shoot for 5 sets and may also incorporate drop sets. This kind of training happens 2-3 times a week and if things are going good the other days I may be doing BW calf stuff while Im waiting between sets.
