Can you use GoodRX and Insurance together?

I just changed pharmacies in the US because my old one was having trouble getting generic test cyp in and regardless they were raising their prices. I decided to transfer my prescription to Walgreen's so that I can use the GoodRX coupons to get a 10ml vial of 200mg/ml Test Cyp for $44.

Does anyone know if I can first have the prescription pass through my insurance so it appies against my deductible and then get the additional savings with the coupon? So for example, with insurance only the vial would cost me about $74. Can I then use the coupon to get the next $30 knocked off? Today I picked up my vial and had to pay the $44 out of pocket with none of it being applied against my insurance deductible. I could probably file a claim manually, but that creates more headaches. I would like to get the $44 to count against my deductible.

If it matters, I have an HSA and I have not met my annual deductible. So this means I pay the full cost of the medication out of my HSA or out of pocket.

Sounds like insurance isn't covering it buddy. A vial from most pharmacies without ANY discount is often between 80-100 dollars. You can ask the pharmacist, but my experience is that coupons and insurance don't mix. :(

I pay cash too, but view it as a cost I'm happy to pay. :)

My insurance will cover it, but it is more expensive than what it costs with the goodrx coupon. I too would obviously prefer to pay less (unless I have used up my deductible and insurance pays 100%). I was just hoping I could get the couppn price applied against my deductible.

I have used manufacturer coupons and insurance at the same time. I have never tried a third party coupon, such as GoodRX, and insurance. Ask your pharmacy about it, they will know.

Ahh, this is me being retarded and not realizing what kind of plan you're on (even though you mention it). :D

The answer is simple: Go get some surgery done so you're at 100% coverage... duh. :)

(I bet walgreens would know pretty quickly)

I'll have to double check with my wife (she works for a health insurance company), but I'm pretty sure if you are close to your deductible, and you have receipts that they aren't counting against it, you can appeal and get them to consider them. Its a PITA, and takes a long time, but if you have receipts that are for things they would cover once your deductible is met then you should win.

Edit: just checked with her, you'll need more than cash register receipts, you'll need the pharmacist to give you an official record of the prescriptions you've paid for out of pocket.

I can just print a report from the pharmacy on their website. That's a good idea and easy enough. Thanks!!! :-)
