Can't lose weight on TRT?

For about six months I've been dieting (1400 cals/day with one cheat day) and losing 2 pounds a week. A few months ago I did one 200mg injection of test cyp and gained 3 pounds that week (water weight), then they told me not to take any more so I could see the endo. My weight loss went back to normal in the six weeks between the shot and the endo appointment.

Now I've been taking 100mg/2 weeks and I can't lose weight. I haven't had a cheat day in 3 weeks, but I've still only lost one pound over 3 weeks--and I have a good amount of weight left to lose. Anyone else experience something like this? Will it go away?

Having the same thing, been on for one month. I've put on 17 pounds. The good news is my waist size has stayed the same. So, it's all chest and arms... I can't imagine how much weight I would have put on if eating a positive calorie diet.

I've dropped 33 lbs since starting on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) back in February, and still have about 20-25 to go. I know I'm very sensitive to simple carbs so any time I eat sugars, starches, and other high glycemic carbs I gain weight rapidly. Maybe that's your issue -- not just your calories, but the type of calories you're consuming. Check in with 3J in the diet section and have him critique your diet.

are you saying you are doing 50 mg a week? Why are you on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)? if you were able to lose weight before going on testosterone, then why would you go on it?

My experience of having low testosterone was the complete lack of muscle gain and just being soft.

I lost 70 lbs on TRT!
No Sugar! Lots of Cardio and weight training.
Figure your resting metabolism and add calories burned from activities (cardio, running, weight training, golf) or anything you burn extra calories.
Subtract 1400 from this and should tell you how much weight you lost for the day.
Remember it takes 3500 calories to make or lose a lb of weight.
On 1400 cals a day you should be losing around .35 to .50 lbs per day. You wont see it everyday but at the end of the month there should be 10 - 15 lbs less.
The timing of your calorie intake is important also and should be spread out over 5 or 6 meals or snacks per day. Try to consume 200 - 250 calories per meal, its not that hard. A chicken breast and steamed veggies is only 200 calories and most of that is protein. A fish fillet grilled or baked with veggies is about the same. Use zero carb protein shakes for in between meals with a few strawberries, blue berries and some slow cook oats.
Hang in there! Let the mirror tell you about your body, its a lot more accurate than the scales.

On another note you may need a little estrogen blocker such as arimidex to control some of the water and bloat. Your dr. should prescribe this without any trouble, your blood work will tell him more but the normal chart they look at covers a large area and everyone is different. I use a e blocker and it keeps me a lot dryer and I dont have the sensitive nipple issue going on any more.

Ofr course your gonna gain alittle weight - first off water weight and second is more muscle. It's not weight you need to worry about its body-fat. As for the water weight take Arimidex. But you will always retain some water on test. I gained 20 pounds on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but lost body-fat. Make sense?

If you are using an Aromatase inhibitor (AI) in conjunction with your HRT, which you should be, then you shouldn't have an issue with gaining water weight.

Secondly, if you are weight training, you should gain some weight in muscle tissue.

Finally, 1400 calories a day is a very restrictive diet. I couldn't survive on 1400 cals a day!

I understand you are trying to lose weight but you may be burning up a significant amount of muscle tissue as well. On that restrictive a diet, your body will adjusted to the caloric deficit and move into starvation mode. At that point it is going to do everything to preserve its tissue. The diet may very well need adjusting.

i second this ^^^^

when one goes on a diet and they seem to be so OCD, that all they care about is shedding fat, one tends to over do it, by taking in too few calories, if all anyone ever had to do is eat 1 calorie every day and exercise their arses off, then we would not have an obese issue east side of the ol Mississippi!

you maybe actually catobolising all musckle, and making your weight loss stall due to being to restrictive in your daily cals,

get with 3j, and he will more than likely up your cals, but lower the carb gi of what u maybe comsuming!
