A much better approach would be to gang up on your insulin receptors in the muscles with sensitizing compounds.

*Fenugreek seeds/herb
and avoid glucosamine!!! Use hyaluronic acid and/or chondroitin sulfate/MSM instead.
southpaw...why do you say to avoid glucosamine? I have used this in the past along with chondroitin and MSM while i was dieting to a pretty low bf (8ish %?) and my joints werent feeling right.
