Carb intake while in TRT?

Greybeard

On the backside of 40...
Has anyone else's testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) Doc told them to limit their carb intake while on?

Mine has been telling me that all along and I'm just wondering why...

Probably makes you more prone to retaining water, but unless you're cutting I don't see an issue with regular complex carbs. Not sure what your diet is like currently, but most docs aren't really thinking in the same frame of mind as someone who is used to body building and living that lifestyle. She's probably just saying avoid simple sugars, candy bars, and pizza.

..she may be concerned for over all body composition ..and most doc s want us to be slim to place of a load on heart, joint s and such. my doc wonder s why I want to be 215 plus...I say cuz it s a GOAL...
..FEMALE testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) doc...hhhmmm..we ll talk soon dude..

Thanks for all the great props, guy's..... I do the best i can for all of you and will be around for a long, long time to continue to do so.

As for the "carbs" issue..... She may or may not really even understand why she is telling you to lower the carbs, but from personal experience and success with clients that have "bloating issues", reduction is very helpful. What many of these "doctors" fail to even ask clients, given that they are overweight, is to ask the simple question, "are you always bloated after even the smallest meal". A vast number of my clients started off with the belly, various degrees of soft, fatty tissue around the pesc, and lower back......

Newsflash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................ Bloating, plus these other physical symptoms= low test/excessive estrogen......... Ding, ding, ding, ding!!!!

The first thing i do for my clients is get them up and running on test, usually hcg, and try to blast the shit out of their existing estrogen stores. Sometimes this process takes a while to get the right amounts of ai's dialed in, but once it is on point, the body composition changes, and bloating goes away. While trying to accomplish this, imo it is good to reduce carbs a bit, just to avoid the discomfort that has been occuring for years. Once the estrogen is lowered to a preferable level, for the client, then i feel its ok to worry a bit less about the carb intake, as the the body will now be more able to readily metabolize those carbs for energy given the fact that its hormones are in balance.

...so many fokls, me especially now that I m older forget that ..raised estro in relation to bloating, body fat and all that...no more test w/o aromsine for me...I enjoy your post s Chip and ussually learn something.

She specifically said to stay away from potatoes, rice, bread, peas, carrots, etc...

Eating where I have to eat, it doesn't leave a hell of a lot left! I don't eat bread anyways but damn...
