on chest day, i wouldnt do flies twice, its just way too much. wityh calfs, u only need to do one isolated calf excersies becuase if you do your squats correctly, the squats will work the calfs as well.

you should post your goals as well becuase if your looking to bulk then 40 reps on the calfs and traps might be over kill unless you want to cut up. so nobody can give you an exact opinion unless we know your goal.

i think that program is way too much volume.
if you are doing 5x5 take a look at what NS posted.

Bench Press 5X5
incline press 2x8
Incline Flyes 2X8

if you are actually going heavy enuff, there is no way you will be able to complete 5x5 for 4 exercises.

on top of that. if you do that many sets fo back and chest, you wont need to do any arm work, as they will get hit hard enuff.

shoulder day cut it down:
military press 5x5
lateral raise 3-5x10-12
bent laterals 2x8-10 (they shoudl get hit hard on back)
front if you desire 2x8-10

way to much..........hang around here and look at all the stickies and shit... i only made it to your chest exercises and thought it was overkill i cant imagine how you would be able to 5 more sets of 5 after you bench i do about 9 sets of chest followed by 3 sets of shoulder work and i leave the gym unable to raise my arms... hats off to you bro if you really are doing those sets correctly

slick13: Why do you say it could be good with 40(!) reps if someone is cutting up?
Aint gonna give him anything with a shitload of reps, cutting or not.

no your right, i was jut kind of saying that more reps and less sets are good for cutting or toning up.

It is a fallacy that higher reps are good for cutting. For stripping bodyfat diet and cardio arem then only factors to keep in mind, other than slight reduction in overall volume if the diet is slightly aggressive. And being too aggressive with fatloss is where the rep about it being so damn catabolic came about. Well that and improper macro-nutrient profiles. You should be able to at least add a bit of muscle whille cutting and strength should climb the whole time. Or you are doing it WRONG!

ok, so when you hear personal trainers say higher reps and less weight are meant for toning and fewer reps at heavier weight is for bulking.... they are lying??

im not sure if theyre lying or they just dont know any better..
weight stimualtes the muscle to what degree depends on your workload..

toning is the the dropping of BF and having a more visible muscle which is best affected through calore manipulation

I never understood what toning is. I am in the camp that either you build muscle or lose muscle. Gain fat or lose fat.

girls that look like brooke burke and whoever else with that kind of body train to "tone" up their muscles.

well than obviosly you know what your talking about and ohters dont.

You are talking to someone who has a little more experience than passing some test. You should really have some clue what you are talking about before you open your mouth, or go back and work with your personl trainer to get toned. Have fun doing cable curls while standing on a swill ball.
