Close grip bench press

I've been talking to some guy who was saying that close grip bench press hits more the pecs and less the tris.
I believe it's the other way!
What do you think?

I dunno about that.

I also don't think you need to go all the way down on those. Just keep the range where it is hitting the tris.

Ever try them on the decline?

CG's will hit the pecs but not more than your reg width grip for bench..also no need to go super close either as that will jsut stress the wrist more

a good grip to use is when you bring the bar to the chest your hands should be just outside your pecs

decline CG's are also good too

And what about the tris? I always thought and felt that close grip hits them harder than wide grip.

yes, the wider you go the more chest is used, the closer you go the more tris are used

i do mine in a smith, unhook the bar so your wrists roll the bar down towards your feet (i guess im in it backward), hands armpit-width apart, wide foot placement, elbows tucked in. Using wrist wraps as well

I do two board close grips and regular close grips.

i think the smit will hurt more than it helps as far as tris go. with cg press you want your tris to stabalize the wieght, thats part of how it hits the tris soo good, but using the smith you limit the range of movement, thus limiting the work your tris actually do. it might let you do more wieght however, i dont think this is necessarily what youre trying to go for.
