Critique my back development to identify my weakpoints

Look good man. Wider and more traps. I m not being a dick; you look great but you asked. When your ready you ll have a smaller waiste size so then there is that to aid you. You will do fine !!!!!

Wow, 272! Big boy! I agree with Teutonic about becoming wider. I don't have a sharp eye for these things, but to me you look great.

For width I like dumbbell pullovers, concentrating on letting the dumbell come down low behind your head and really stretching the upper lats.

Awesome thickness in the middle though, it's so thick in fact the rest of your back needs to catch up so to speak

Good work though, I'm guessing you do a lot of rowing and/ Orr deadlifts

Exactly what he said! I have been using dumbbell pullovers the last three months and they have put more width in my back then any other exercise I have tried. It's almost like you can feel the fibers tearing with a good stretch but it is worth it.

Awesome thickness in the middle though man, anything in particular you did to get such development or just rowing and deadlifts (again, exactly what carverelli said haha)

I agree with carverelli here. Great thickness in the traps and middle back, but I would focus on some "high" rows (the high iso-lateral hammer strength machine is my favorite) / wide grip lat pulldowns that hit the upper portion of your back. teres major/minor areas especially. get a good squeeze at that peak contraction and you will have an even better back! Great work man!

Looks good bro. I would agree with the others. Do you deadlift? Heavy deads are the best for back thickness imo and pull ups for width.

tell us your back routine so we can critique it. you are severly lacking in width. is 272lbs a typo? your legs have to be massive cuz that upperbody doesnt look like that of a 272'er

typo? what? I'm 194cm tall... I'm fucking tall as fuck! Proof in the picture. My arms are 20 inches and my legs are 31 inches. I'm also < 10% bf. What is a 272lb tall guy supposed to look like?

No. I'm too tall. My coach only ever gets me to do rows :-(

I'll start this this week. Thanks

Lots of rowing. I'll start pullovers this week too. Thanks

do u got a mustach?

No - I cannot even see it in the picture at all. I just have a 5 oclock shadow

harshness is only how one really learns their weakpoints. thanks

tell us your back routine so we can critique it.

Reverse grip barbell row 4*15
close grip cable row 4*15
hammer strength row 4*15
lat pull downs wide 4*15

that's it

Your trap development is amazing. It's not often you see someone with developed traps all the way down to mid range.

On that note, just keep progressing. Being wider would always be a nice addition. However, looking good in my opinion!!

Start doing pullups bro. These are key for back width imo. Deadlifts are where its at for thickness too. Your never too tall, don't use that as an excuse.

^^^ What Meathead said

I will get flamed by iso-hardcore-fans but I'm convinced that pull ups and deadlifts are 95% of what you need to develop a massive back. Pull-ups = width / DL = thickness

Being tall is not an excuse for not deadlifting, if you're worried by injuries set the barbell on one or two 45lbs plates to raise it a bit.

Now, as a side note, what amaze me is that you can live in HK at 194cm without going nuts...I've been living there 3 years, and I am 190cm...Living in a doll-house 24/7, the first couple of weeks I was worried by simply stepping into a shop without wrecking havock on the display. Being working 14 to 16H/day 7/7 I had to stop lifting and therefore shrunk to a normal size, which made my life easier. So glad to be back in BKK where I can rent a place twice the size for half the price

Are you on HKI or Kowloon side?

Massive back anyway, great job there.

Thanks - I live in Kowloon. 190cm tall - similar height to me, I guess you'll be the same built as me too. I'll try to do rack pulls tonight.
