i want to add block pulls into my routine after deads..my question is how would you structure it..add height each week with the same weight or would you use say a 3 inch block and add weight each week...i want to get stronger off the floor..ive ben doing racks but i dont think im gaining anything from them..for me if i can get it off the floor theres a very high chance of lock out..i do deads upper back lats abs in one workout..tell me what you think
deads 3x5
block pulls 2x5
chins 3x8-10
BB rows 3x6-8
lat pulls 3x8
1 arm dbell row or iso hi row 3x8-10
also i plan do this routine for 2 weeks and on the third week no deads or blocks but instead work up to a max GM then do chins etc..
 
id drop the deads for a while and focus on blocks if you wanna develop low end power. leg presses help with this too. the trick with blocks is too make sure you keep your form. its easy to dump it on the back esp from so deep.

make sure to sit back before you pull (this is with full pulls too) so that if you let go of the bar you would fall backwards. pull back and not up on deads. keep the bar against your legs the entire pull. if its drifting in front of you, you lose a lot of leverage.

Definitely. In my deads workout today, I did 2x5 at 425 no problem, but when I jumped up 20 more, I managed to let the weight get away from my legs, causing the back to round more, and I barely let go before I really hurt myself. Be sure to keep good form.
 
20 pounds is a bit of a jump when you are only doing 2 reps, especially after doing a set where you only got 2 reps ;)

my form is good i want to increase my strength from the floor..im at the point where i need to train my lifts rather than just rely on brute strength..seems like block pulls would be a perfect exercise..PB is right my last few DL sessions havent ben great i changed shoes and for whatever reason i havent been getting the weight on my heels ive been a little forward..but today i went back to my old shoes and it made a difference..maybe its psychological hell i dont know..but before i wasnt comfortable at the bar today i was but i didnt pull heavy i did 365 3x5 off a 4 inch block
 
wear socks or pull in flat shoes. youy see what i wear.

give the deads a break if you stagnate. do the assistance movements for a while and when you go back you'll break thru no prob.
 
i switced to chuck taylors bu the shoes i was using before were much flatter so im going back to those..i like your moccs!! :D

many people use wrestling shoes when the deadlift ;)

yep thats what they are..i dont know why i ever switched anyway they were working just fine lol..i tell you though its amazing how something like an inch can affect your pull..then again its just like any sport i grew up playing hockey and couldnt stand new equipment let alone an off the rack stick..

as bad as i hate to admit it, we have a pro hockey team in NC. I think they made it to the super bowl for hockey too. whats it called the Sally Cup ice capades?

you crack me up PB :D you should check out a game..the hurricanes had a good that one good year..god only knows when the next game will be played
