hello.

now, we all know every kind of exercise has their own dangers and whatnots. the whole, it's dangerous when you lift improperly.

but i've been reading up on db flyes and even got the whole scientific explanation blah blah blah saying it's utterly dangerous to your shoulders coz of this and that and does your chest no good.

what's your opinion about db flyes?

thanks

very effective if done properly and yes it works on your shoulders and you can add triceps & shoulders to your routine as well,
now don't add to much weight when doing flys get a comfortable weight that you can do alot of reps to muscle failure,

ps db flys work on your midsection of your chest, this exercise is very important

I would say that db flies is a good exercise when you do partial reps since the last 1/4 (at the top) of the movement your chest's fibers are not contracted anymore (well at least way less contracted than the other 3/4). This is why some people do cable flies, since they're contracted for the complete movement/amplitude.

Like dosekel said, partial reps. I really dont see much benefit in dropping your arms more than 30-40 degrees above full extension of your arms. It doesn't work my chest any better, just stretch in between sets instead of in the exercise.
