Deadlift on leg day?????

Greybeard

On the backside of 40...
Been working out now for a month with a new partner and he gets this new routine from a buddy of his in Cali.

But whats throwing me for a loop is the fact that it has Deadlifts (heavy) on the same day as legs AND stiff-legged deadlifts (300lbs+) on back day????

Seems like it should be the other way around if anything...

I'm not getting a good vibe at all from this.

Anyone see any method to the madness here?

Thanks!

yes I agree with you.

I dead lift on back day that being one of the first exercises that day when Im freshest.

And squat and strait leg on leg day.

But if its working for him....?Good for him,but I agree and understand your logic.

Thanks for the response guys! Glad to hear that I'm not going senile... LOL

He just got this new routine via e-mail last week but as soon as I heard it I started wondering about the qualifications of the person he got it from...

I was previously doing the 5x5 and am going to switch up sets & reps for a few weeks just for a change of pace.

Let me add one more thing, ever heard of doing negatives for every rep WITH a pause (3 sec)?

I'd never heard of that either....

there was a post a few weeks ago about biceps suggesting this. I did it once and got an incredible burn. I dont have a partner that can really help me otherwise I would do this more often.

Give it a shot I think you'll like it

i agree with drew-deads for back-SLDL and squats for legs

squats first BTW

I do deads for legs (after squats before sled), sometimes mix it up with SL but heavy deads are a staple for my legs. I have worked deads for back day instead at times but I don't feel its as productive for me.
