Dutasteride vs. Finasteride - Once you start, do you have to take it for life? (PICS)

I am getting ready for my first cycle. I am 26 and have a full head of hair that I'd like to keep for a long time. Male pattern baldness isn't really an issue in my family as you can see from the pics below (my dad's hair is pretty thin and his hairline has receded, but my mom's dad had a full head of hair until his death at 80) so I'm trying to figure out what my best course of action would be. Dutasteride is appealing since it I've read it can help with both hair loss and acne prevention.

1. Would dutasteride/finasteride be advisable for me? If so, which one and at what dosage? .125mg Dutasteride ED seems to be common.

2. At what point in relation to a cycle would I begin taking it? i.e. a few weeks/months before, during, etc.

3. At what point after my cycle is over can I stop taking it? Or would I need to remain on it continuously?

Anyone with any experience using either Dutasteride or Finasteride? I'd really like to hear your opinions on this

EDIT: I can't embed this pic for some reason, I'm guessing I need more posts?

You inherit baldness from your mothers side of the family. Your dad and his dad does not matter...

not exactly true as this is a misconception, baldness can be inherited from either parent.

Genetics play a factor in male pattern baldness that is widely debated. In the early 20th century, the agreed upon theory was that male pattern baldness was inherited through the mother. Therefore, if a man's maternal grandfather had hair loss, that man would suffer hair loss as well. In the 1980s, the scientific community refuted this concept and posited instead that male pattern baldness could be inherited from either the mother or father.

NOW IM LOSING HAIR, lol i better start bulking hard core before i go bald. or im going to be one goofy looking mofo!!!!

I've been taking it for over 10 years now with no side effects that I know of . It has certainly slowed my hair loss as both my brothers are much thinner to pretty much bald.

Facts or I call Bull Shit.

Considering the mother is the one that carry's the chromosome that carries the link, I doubt you could get it from yo daddy.

Jus sayin.

Hair loss similarities between father and son have also been observed in a study on the frequency of MPB in brothers of men having prematurely bald fathers (66%) compared with brothers of men with unaffected fathers (46%;Harris, 1946;Kuster and Happle, 1984). Further evidence against a single and/or X-linked gene of major effect comes from a study bySmith and Wells (1964), which observed hair loss in only 33% of the fathers of 18 women suffering from severe pattern baldness (Kuster and Happle, 1984). Additionally, a study examining 410 men with premature baldness found evidence of a genetic influence from the father's side in 236 cases (Galewsky, 1932;Jackson, 1932;Kuster and Happle, 1984). Hence, other (autosomal) genes, possibly of large effect, remain to be found.

im on your side bro

my dad and his dad are bald as fuck and im on the way there at 28yo

where as my moms dad has an assload more hair than me even and hes like 72+yo

sometimes real world experience trumps science. 1 test says this, and another says that but what really can or will happen is not always 100% decided by a test or 2.

Shit. Didn't want to hear this.

Someone that is using it because they are suffering from hair loss will have to continue use to keep gains. Someone using it for preventative maintenance well on cycle should not have to use it forever. thats my take on it anyways.

Oh yeah man... if you get off of it then you will go back to what you were... plus what should have happened during the time of taking it. I got on it early (like 21) and I was almost fully bald... I have now fixed it to the point of where I just look like I have receding temples. But, if I get off of it for even a month it starts to show.

I am also on the other two of the big three though, and I know eventually I will lose the battle.

Well that's better news. What is the recommended dosage on cycle? Start a few weeks before and end a few weeks after?

Any tapering required?

Yes many men have used these substances with great success and little or no sides but....!

Heres my advice after ceasing a course, a little less than 2 months on finasteride to save my hair:
DO NOT EVEN TOUCH TABS THAT CONTAIN THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT!!
Wiki the articles on finasteride and read every single bit and all the links carefully! You will find that percentages of the male population that have adverse reactions to it are there, but that doesnt give you the real description of the anguish it WILL cause if it does affect you in the end!
It WILL shutdown your HPTA system and hemaphrodise you, it WILL push you to tears when you get the 'brain fog' and can barely string three words together, it WILL panic you when you see a gorgeous girl walk by and you dont for want of better words "get it up"!
It WILL reduce your sperm volume even if you get the gorgeous girl.....

This is not coming second hand....I and many men have experienced this, luckily I may have stopped just in time as soon as I noticed the above mentioned sides. There is currently a global campaign to take Merck to court in a class action over this concoctions devastating effects.

It targets 5 alpha reductase type II enzyme and lowers it to near 0 and stops metabolising testostorone into DHT, which is what makes your hair fall out, makes sperm and you a man. Problem is its attached to a feedback loop in your pertuitary system and once you've messed with it near impossible to bring back to normal levels.
You need your 5AR type I & II to metabolise AAS, so if you're thinking dutasteride route, be warned that shuts down both types.

The advisory in the finasteride packaging even says do not let pregnant women and young children even pick up a tablet....meaning it may be absorbed through the skin. THIS IS HOW POTENT A SUSTANCE YOU'RE DEALING WITH.

Go for clippers and a buzz cut!!!!!

aww man.
the advisory on the package says.. pregnant woman should not handle broken tablets.. guess what we are not pregnant woman.
Oh ya, maybe i should also add woman shouldn't use testosterone.

yup! thats about right, we're not pregnant women, nor is finasteride a testosterone....it could be described more like an anti DHTestosterone which allows more estrogens to bind to receptors in the body and cause nasties like bitchtits and could turn you into something close to being a pregnant woman if you happen to be one of the percentage that are adversely sensitive to it.

Like I said it aint for nothing that Merck might end up in a 'class action' over this stuff, they've recently even had to change the advisory on the packaging just to save their butts.
