i hate eggs, so I stir them into a liquid and just drink them raw. Id like to get it down right away instead of chewing them. I drink it down with OJ which helps alot. Anything else will make me gag

I eat them cooked........

Raw is just plain stupid on many levels. Cooking eggs makes them more bio-available as well........

Also, no, that is not what a shake is.

A 'shake' is generally a drink consisting of protein (often whey)... and sometimes other things such as flax, oats, etc...

Raw is gross and with today's low standards potentially dangerous. There are so many ways to cook eggs or add them to other foods--I love them. Get creative eggs are great and eat the whole thing not just the whites.

cooked and raw. Have been eating raw eggs in my shakes a couple yrs now, usually 2x a day and have had no problems. They get obsorbed faster if they r raw. Read something by a medical Dr. that said the probability of someone getting samonila from a raw egg is like 0.0003%. He'd been eating raw eggs for close to 30yrs and never gotten sick.

I also have whey protein in my shake.
No shake isn't just raw eggs, milk, fruit. sorry
I agree w/huskyguy though, eat the whole egg, not just the whites. Has the perfect amount of fatty acids, aminos to help digest the protien.

I read some article by some medical dr. said your body can digest raw egg in about 30min and it takes about 4 hrs to digest cooked
I'll get the guys name and stuff if u're interested.

interesting, i quite like the raw eggs... with a bit of sugar.

& tnx for the shake .... now i know :shoot2:

The Dr. who wrote the article is Dr. Allan Sears. he writes alot of mens health stuff. Prob. do a search on him and read more if interested.

it depends on how many eggs you eat..
i usually make 10-12 egg omelettes form xl or jumbo eggs..thats about 5-7g of fat per egg if i were to keep all the eggs whole thats 70g of fat in 1 meal!!!
i generally use 1-3 whole and the rest whites..

i was also under the impression raw eggs were bad for you!!! just because some quack does it dont make it right

i eat AT LEAST a dozen eggs a day...now if i ate the whole egg, my cholesterol would be thru the roof.. i usually eat 3 whole eggs max (ususally in the am) and the rest whites... gotta be careful with all those whole eggs and red meat that your cholesterol and other shit doesnt skyrocket...

I read it is not the egg itself that has samonella, rather the shell. A person will crack the egg, it runs down the shell, dragging the bacteria with it into the glass and WAH-LA...TOLIET duty for a week... :toilet:

You can eat 'raw' eggs if they are pasteurized (whites)...

I do now quite a bit actually, very convenient...

Eggs should always be cooked. I have studied this topic throughout college, etc. I will agree whole heartedly with Blown...

Eggs are essentially useless raw. The amino acids in eggs need to be heated to fully bond. Albumen in the urine is a general sign, as studies show that a significantly higher amount of malabsorbed protein (egg) was found in the urine of healthy individuals (1). Stable isotope techniques are used to determine the digestibility of raw eggs vs. cooked eggs. In another study, using this method, it was demonstrated that the assimilation of cooked egg protein is efficient, albeit incomplete, and that the true ileal digestibility of egg protein is significantly enhanced by heat-pretreatment (2). Heat-pretreatment of course being cooked.
Not to mention you have a 1 in 30,000 chance to get salmonella from a raw egg. Also, if you blend raw eggs or whatever, you can break up the chemical bonds of amino acids where as cooking them can hook the bonds together, which inevitably is the objective.

I eat about 4 boiled eggs every day (1-2 wholes and rest whites). Eggs are great. Easy and quick to cook and eat (and cheap).
