hey guys n girls,
I want to gain some muscles and lose some weight, but I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm young, but it's never too early to take interest. This isn't a way for me to get girls, I just want to look good and build my self-esteem. Anything you guys say can help me out. I've been reading different forums and threads and I was hoping I can get more help from u guys.
I'm about 6'1, 176 lbs. The last time i checked which was last year I was about 24% body fat.

I'm not asking much, if I can get a basic idea of what to do that would be great and of course I know to join a gym and invest in dumbbells.

THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!!

My opinion: forget the dumbells. Stick with core lifts and a bar, no dumbells. Bench, squats, deadlifts, maybe some power cleans if you want to play sports, and any other excersizes, use a bar instead of dumbells. For the most part, using a bar will develop a good base, after which you can define with dumbells. Run on your off days from lifting. Change it up to get rid of some bodyfat. Sprint interval training, long distance, whatever you want. Remmeber though, everything follows your diet. Eat clean and cut out sugar. This should get you going.

Start tracking your diet in something like fitday.com or a private journal of yours, whatever, just keep track of all your calores in and how many carbs, proteins and fats you're taking in. Training is the easy part. Especially being a newbie, you'll see success with pretty much any training regimen, at least until you get conditioned. So find someone at the gym to help you with the training part, that way you can focus on what you need to be focusing on - diet.
