First time injecting question

First off i've been getting TRT shots at my dr and decided to do them at home with IMT, I injected into my left glute in the upper left part of it right below my belt line.. So my question is it didnt hurt nearly as much as when I get it at the dr? I was thinking I didnt get it into the muscle or something? What i did differently from the Dr. is used a 23g needle instead of 20g needle, and stood on the opposite leg to take all of the pressure off?

I guess I am just nervous doing it at home for the first time.. How would I know if I didnt get it in? None leaked out.

There are easier places for a person to self inject IM than the glutes .... try the thigh or delts.

You might also look into doing sub-q injections .... there is a lot of information on this site about injection types, locations and needle sizes. I personally use a 30g 5/16" insulin syringe and rotate between 4 different sub-q injection spots. Injecting is completely painless and the tiny needles helped me conquer my fear of needles enough to self inject without issue.

At the end of the day as long as the test was injected you should be fine iven if it wasnt a IM injection.

if you used a 1.5 inch needle then you almost definitely went deep enough to hit muscle. even if you didnt, it's not a waste. It will make it's way into your bloodstream eventually. And a bigger needle will be more painful along with the fact that doctors can be rough with injections.

Yeah used a 1 1/2 inch needle went the whole way in, I just can't believe the difference in pain from doing it at the dr compared to at home it almost didnt hurt at all

Upper outer thigh is the easier for me. I rotate back and forth and no issues. 1 inch 25 gauge pin. I pin about 6 inches below pelvic bone at about 2 o'clock. This is easiest because you don't have to reach around. LOL "reach around"
