tendonitis in my forearm is gettin awful! i can barely workout biceps..bent rows and deads are very painful as well...i was thinkin i either have to take a week off (which right now isnt a good time to do) or get deep tissue massage....what do you guys think...what can i do cause the gyms all i got right now and i cant take time off.

i have the same problem. the pain is bout 5 inches below the elbow. it f'n hurts. wil a deep tissue massage help???

Do you do preacher curls with a barbell or ez curl bar? I used to have problems with my forearms as well, once I switched to doing preacher curls with a dumbell, the problems went away

loosen up on your grip

I had this problem until I finally released my death grip on the bar during exercises. Also there are stretches you can do to ease the tension a bit.

oh i remember that shit too well. doing pullups off a beam using just my four fingers to hold , with 75 lbs strapped on my belt.
i had to do a cortisone regimen.
the only thing i can say is use straps and kind of let your hands hang lower than the bar on curls. like, instead of curling your wrists up, do em with wrists bent down if that makes sense.
also, try one arm dumbbell rows instead of barbell rows. straps!! use em.
deep tissue massage is good, so i've heard, but never tried it. good luck

rookie i have been fighting a similar issue for a couple years now. i tried and tried to work through it and it didn't work. it got to where my chest exercises, back exercises were being screwed up to the point to where at times i couldn't work them and my strength suffered.

Here is what i had to do. i had to lay off all bicep work for a while, like a couple months. i stopped doing any exercise that bothered the arm for a couple to few weeks. what i noticed is that bi work (specifically preachers) were the culpret.

i suggest you lay off bi work for a while. then go light weight high reps on bi for a while and maybe a long time depending on whether or not heavy weight makes the arm flair up. i can now do everything heavy w/o problems except bi work and i still go light weight high reps most of the time. m2c

good idea. i forgot about the high reps on your return to lifting. actually, the high reps for some reason helped my recovery, cuz i never really took more than 2 weeks off from lifting.

Rookie here are a few things that help me out.

-Fish oil caps
-Flax oil
-MSM\glucosomine
-Apply icy hot every night
-Ice daily
-IB profen

Hope that helps

Good post Tman

quite honestly a week off will not do anything other than lull you inot a false sense that ur arm is healed..

I have not done heavy direct bicep work in almost a year and a half because of the same problem you have..

the best thing you can do is take a week or longer off from direct bicep work like Tman said..get yourself on some Motrins i used 800mg 3 times a day for a few weeks ( i am not advocating you do the same jsut telling you what i did)..ice will help out as well..

THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO:get yourself some elbow sleeves wear them for everythign including squats..also youll want to get a good hot linimentand put that on when you get to the gym and then put your elbow sleeves on..as you start to sweat it will heat the joint up and keep it loose..
good liniments
http://www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?m=PD&cid=176&pid=495this is worth every bit of 20 bucks and it will get very very hott
also on the same site the "blue lotion" is also very good

i was in walmart the other day and i saw something called "capzaisin" not sure i spelled it right but its the same ingredient thats in the equiblock lotion although i havent tried the product from walmart

but my pain is in my forearms...so why would i wear an elbow sleeve? thanks alot for your guys help though...mann this sucks...its affecting everything now... went to the doctor today to see if theirs anything he could give me to help me lift longer....he just gave me naproxen, not any cortisone or anything like that....so that lotion stuff really helps during training?

rookie i don't want this to come across in the wrong way, these guys including myself have gone through the exact same thing you are experiencing. if you want it to get better, try some of the suggestions. it will not get better on its own and it will get worse.

fair enough, thanks again, yea i am gonna take your guys advice, i just think i might tough it out until my gyno surgery, then ill take a month off from training, besides legs. do you think thats even wise at all?

i think that sounds good. time off after surgery except for legs. PB told me to be careful not to squeeze the bar too tightly during squat exercises because even that contributes to the forearm issue. i did legs throughout my arm ordeal.

rookie i like your desire and toughness to work through the pain. only you know what you can and can't do. i don't think it is wise to try and set limits on a people, we just share our own experiences and let others take anything from it that may help.

you'll be alright!

hey bro, thanks alot that means alot coming from you! haha im gonna push on, just hope it doesnt get too much worse, surgery should be a month or so away...and then 4 weeks oughta do me good, yea after bb squats and lunges my hands cramp, i dont even realize im gripping it that hard.
