Fruits while cutting

winter here's the deal on fruit imo bro.

if you just want to be a lean guy with bf% between 8-12%, you can easily eat fruit in the morning and through early afternoon imo. maybe even into the evening depends on how your body reacts to it. i like to replace the bad carbs with fruit while cutting and quit the fruit by 3 or 4 pm.

i can always get lean and still eat a moderate amount of fruit.....

that said, you also have other perspectives, say from a bodybuilder who wants to get lean enough to compete. they may say no fruit at all....just know that they have different goals than most of us and come from a different perspective than most of us.

i say go ahead and eat fruit if you want, just don't eat bad carbs and maybe cut it out in the early afternoon. so many different approaches work it is hard to say.

Thanks bro. I will try that. For the past 2days or so, I've been eating nothing but grapefruit, strawberries and blueberries in the morning instead of my oats and banana. I'm getting hungrier cuz I think my metabolism is speedin up a bit, but that's always a good sign, I suppose.

You're getting hungrier b/c the fruits are digested quicker than the oats.

man i eat fruit all day long even a cup with my casein at night and im lean. used to be a fat to. so eat ya damn fruit theres way more goods than bads!

i don't see any problem with eating fruit if you are cuting down to 8-12% as mentioned earlier. Fruit have a pretty low GI and GL and are packed with nutrients and fiber. Yes they are mostly simple sugars, but eating fruit is a lot different than drinking fruit juice. I eat fruit regularly especially as a snack between meals when i feel a little lethargic, i find that it doesn't spike my blood sugar and i think it is a good carb, if the fruit is acidic than the GI of whatever you ate can be lowered as much as 30% Thats something i read in a book called "The good carb cookbook". So i have been including a piece of fruit with all many of my meals, except late in the day, the berries are real good as in they are low calorie and very healthy as well as apple and peaches, they have good fiber and very low GI, even bananas i find are good, they have a higher level of glucose than other fruits yet still maintain a low GI. As you can tell i go by the GI level in chosing my cutting foods and fruits are a good addition. You ain't gonna get fat eating apples and bananas. An orange or a grapefruit i find are also good especially at lowering the GI of a meal. if you wanna cut below 8% bf then you have to get extreme and cut out fruits, but thats a level i've never been to so i can';t really comment on that.

i grab some at night too its never done me no wrong.... I lost a shit load of fat man just by eating fruits instead of snickerbars... lol

Which fruits would you guys suggest to eat? I've had strawberries, grapefruit, blueberries and peaches.

Any other good fruits that are low in GI levels?

Great reads so far. Thanks. :)

man I like bannanas, sour apples (grannysmith shit) peaches, raspberrys (pricey) strawberries... .. . and sometimes before gym il make me some cereal. If I really feel like I need to eat I pop open a can of tuna and start to chug it down with some water..its nasty but I usually feel full after.

Soy Milk and a protein shake. There is one litteraly called "Whey" and its made by optimum nutrition. I have the double rich chocolate and rocky road ice cream flavors... I shit you not man its the most delicious protein shake I have ever tasted anything else makes me throw up after a while...but this shit really tastes like chocolate milk man! with 3g ofcarbs you get 24g of protein... not bad for the taste at all!

I don't eat bananas because I find them to be too high in sugar. I never thought about Grannysmith apples, good call. I'll pick some of those up next time I go foodshopping. Water w. Tuna? I've followed Vander V's tuna shake a few times and it's not too terrible - 16oz applejuice, 1 can tuna, 1cup ice - blend until very smooth and chug it.

Yeap, I have ON too, it's a great brand of protein, IMO.
