Gina Carano didn't make weight for tomorrows fight.

This is surprising because she even slimmed down. for awhile she was lookin kinda pudgy. Well she forfeited 12.5% of her pay for that.

It makes me angry because she had time to see this coming. In the weeks leading up to the fight all the internet tough guys were shit talking her saying she wouldn't make weight, and she proved them all right.

She never makes weight. Last weigh in I remember she was also over.

Remember the ones where she was standing in the scale with one foot. I will see if I can find them.

Ive always thought the weight issue is kind of stupid. They should just say within 5 lbs of each other for fighters. Go ahead and blast me, but just makes a hell of a lot more sense.

I will blast you because weight classes would be pointless if we did it this way.

This is why I don't agree with cutting weight.

If you fight at 170lbs, you should be forced to stay within 10 lbs of your weight class. Kind of like off season drug testing that some sports use, they should have off season weigh ins, not just weigh ins the day before the fight.

Obviously, this will never happen but it will save alot of issues such as not making weight, cutting too much weight you have no energy to fight, cutting weight then putting on 10 lbs by fight night.

This will give you more of an even playing ground, but it is pretty far fetched.

I think its a fair enough deal allowing the fight to go on and fining her for it. Does that 12.5% go to the other fighter?

This is not fair at all. The whole point of having a weight class to cut toward is that when you plan on dropping 20 lbs before a fight you are taking a big risk. You risk depleting yourself if you cut too fast and you risk not making weight.

Thats an overstatement IMO. "Pointless" is a strong word to use for a 5 pound discrepancy. Make the weight classes with some room to spare. They try to make the weight classes wedged too closely together.

Here is why it is stupid. If you make a weight class from 170-175 then that weight class become 175. In modern mma if you're not walking around 10-20 lbs above your weight class you don't have a chance size wise. No one comes to weigh ins 3 pounds under, and if they do they usually lose.

In a weight based combative sport, 5 pounds is HUGE bro!! ..and they do give you allowances. Most of the time you get a 1 lb allowance. That's plenty. Not making weight is pure laziness and poor planning.

Weight classes in any sport like MMA is a must. And it's half the battle to make the weight. Off season weigh in's are point less. It's all part of the sport, they way you train, and the lifestyle. I welcome someone to cut their last 15 lbs before the fight, it just gives me the advantage :)

to not make weight is disrespectful to the sport and your opponent, not to mention its cheating and i wont even consider it a win if your 5 pounds over weight, 5 pounds is a huge, huge advantage, then couped with the fact that your opponent made weight and is dehydrated and depleted makes it worse. Gina is a spoiled little brat whos cares about nothing but her own ego
