Glute injection issue 1" pin

So I'm alittle confused here, buddy comes over today and tells me last night he shot 2cc of enanthate into his glute with an 1" pin (claims he ran out of 1.5's even though I have plenty of them). Just from looking at it, it appears as the oil is dispersing upwards to his tailbone and he says that area is extremely sore, more sore than the injection site. It is alittle lumped up but it appears as though the oil is possibly sitting between the skin and muscle? Is this possible? If so, why does it look like its running upwards towards his lower back? It's not warm or red so it can't be an infection but I don't know what to tell him, hopefully someone has some helpful advice.

Could be an abscess. Tell him to go to the doctor and get it checked out.

Abscesses are usually in a centralized area, I haven't seen an abscess spread out before.

It wasn't visual of it running upwards, he said its just sore up there. When I pressed basically right on his under ware line I got a reaction out of him and he said that's where it hurts.

I have had it go down into knee before. I shot into leg like a dummy. It swoll and hurt for three days pretty badly. It finally went down and felt fine. Hopefully for your friends sake its nothing.

shit i use 1" for glutes, never any problems that i know of...

is it mandatory for 1.5 in glutes though?

Could be different depending on the body fat %.

All I read on the net is that 1.5 are recommended.

been wondering the same thing... ive done 2 cycles before but forgot what size i used haha

i wana say i did 1" and just stuck it in all the way.. i dont think i did the whole 1.5"

but regardless if it doesnt go in as far as a 1.5, the oil will still end up in the bloodstream wont it?

thats what i was thinkin... i just felt like if i did 1.5 it'd go in too far and thats no bueno

I found this on another forum as I wanted to explain more of what happened along with the fact he's going to live! In case someone might have this same issue in the future.

"This same type of thing happened with me 2 weeks ago. Its a classic example of when an IM injection goes too shallow or comes back up the injection enterence and goes SubQ. It will pass within a good week Im sure. If you just simply want answers to why the pain spread, and caused swelling-this is why.

Next time inject slower and when all is done, wait a few seconds before pulling the pin out. I honestly wait like 15mins after inject before I massage the area because Id rather minimize the chance of my injection leaking SubQ."
