hey guys. I'm going to lay off for a week or two from gym. Any adivce? Could I do cardios when I'm off?
thanks guys!!!

you can do anything you want. are you intentionally resting due to overtraining, and taking a much needed break or are you just going away and dont know if there will be a facility to train at.

at the very least you could walk/jog, sit ups, push ups. find a park and do some chis/dips at the monkey bars. maybe the hotel/resort you stay will have a gym. maybe you can buy a week pass or pay eprday at a gym whereever you are going?

hammer53, thanks for the comment.
actually, I'm taking a week or 2 off bec I'm totally worn out already, physical and mental. felt like getting weak already and wanting rest..lot of rests...and pizzas..haha.
IA, so, does that mean I won't be doing cardios or anything excercise related things?
thanks guys!

Usually when I go on vacation, I am very active, so lots of cardio from activity is just par for the course. I always try to keep up with ab work even when on vacation.

WHen i'm on vacation, I try and stay very active. Also, many hotels have at least some sort of gym/exercise equipment that u can do alittle on. And there are many gyms u can just pay for the day. Granted I don't lift as much as I normally would when i'm on vacation, but still try and lift some. Plus any hiking, swimming, etc.
If i'm taking time off cuz i'm COMPLETELY worn out, I usually just do some form of cardio.
A few yrs back i took 3 full weeks off over Xmas break(i had been really overtrained and didn't even realize it, just got to a point where all my lifts started going down and down) came back after the break and i was up over 20lbs on bench. No bs. All my other lifts went back up 2.
So sometimes a break is good. Just depends if u're really overtrained or if u're just telling yourself that cuz u don't feel like working out.

thanks guys!
so, should I still eat a freaking huge meal during my day offs or cut it down?
and will it be alright to do 3 cardios per week?

depends on your goals really. if you're cutting, then limit your intake of food to correlate with your level of activity. If you're bulking just eat the same but clean it up a bit so you don't just add fat. Or if it's a real vacation, fuggit all and go crazy. I would do the 3 cardio sessions plus one or two days of balls to the wall sprints. Another great exercise is to go to an open parking lot and push a car/truck around in neutral. yes, you read right, push a car. either go all out for a measured disctance, like a sprint, or go slowly and concentrate on driving your legs and pushing w/ your chest so as not to let momentum help you too much. It's alot harder than you think. If you're not puking at the end, you didn't do it hard enough.

just my .02

oh man, and to think my vacation would be a blast. I end up having a 5 days flu and sore throat and couldn't eat much. lost some fats and muscle inches. I'm all well now and god am I eager to go back to the gym.
anyway, ya think I should hit it hard where I left it or go a bit lighter?

take it easy when getting back into it after a sick period. you don't want a relapse. After about a week, you'll be right where you left off. GL!
