Surprisingly my GP is willing to put me on AndroGel... is this a good 1st step in terms of getting him to put me on Test injections? .. or should I demand injections/dose right away?

no, I would refuse and demand the injections up front. gels can get on other people and cause problems, if you have children or are married to a woman and would like to keep her that way tell him you won't use it for cross contaminations, have weighed all the options and feel injections to be the best route

I dont think you can "make demands" of any Dr but maybe yours is different than most I have encountered. I would take the approach that you have done some research and lay out the reasons why you feel injections would be better. As far as dosage he would prob start you off and adjut down the road if needed based on your blood work results. In many cases with trt, especially with a GP it will be up to you to educate him(or her). In many cases with Dr's and their egos you have to do this tactfully. Your lucky you have a Dr that will work with you when it comes to TRT so I wouldnt blow it I would so my best to work WITH him to get yourself where you would like to be.

Wow, server ate my post from here too. :redhot:

All you have to do is mention that you're concerned about transfer to children/females in your life. They cannot BY LAW disregard this, and will have to find a different solution. The solution often being injections. :)

I agree ^ I would be assertive with the form of testosterone (injectable) you have legit case for that. but as far as pushing for a dosage.... he ain't gonna put you on a blast man... I would get him to get you to a legit normal level and not push anything.

Also.. when I briefly mentioned injection, he eluded to having to come in for them ... should I just say my gf is a nurse and can do it?

i would agree to going in and fuss about the inconvenience. insist he shows you how for take homes eventually because just from a practical standpoint going in 2xs a week and waiting in an office is not possible for the average person

I suggest you come at this from a realistic viewpoint. Tell him that you understand this is for life, and that you would prefer to be taught how to do them on your own. THEN you can mention that your girl is a nurse, and she can help make sure that you're doing it properly.

I personally had to demonstrate to my doctor's medical assistant that I knew how to do IM injections before they would give me the green light to take it home.

Just hoops to jump through to meet your objective. Stay persistent, and you'll come out on top. :)
