Griffin Vs A. Silva???

JayC

..in the making
My brother just told me he heard the Griffin Vs Thiago Silva was scratched and that Anderson Silva will replace Thiago for a Griffin/A.Silva match for UFC 101.
I respect Griffin as a fighter but I personally think its a bad match up for Griffin.. especially coming off a loss to Rashad and losing the belt. And its a perfect match up for Silva after his last fiasco cuz they know Forrest will stand and bang.
Dunno? but my brother thinks its win/win for Forrest cuz he could possibly upset Silva if Silva isn't on and if Forrest loses, its just a loss to the worlds best p4p fighter and Dana will set him up with some easy fights to put him back in title contention.
thoughts??

Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva, not Thiago Silva, set for UFC 101 (Updated) | MMAjunkie.com

this will be forrests biggest challange yet... he has the heart to go all 5 rounds.. if he doesnt get caught and ko'ed... and ill be routing for forrest since he is my favorite fighter..lol

I don't like it. I love Forest but I think he lacks the punching power to bang with Silva and I think that's what he'll chose to do. I would rather see Silva fight GSP or even Nate the "somewhat great" again, he looked awesome against Gouveia. I think he has to move up to 205 though to remain challenged and this does make sense in that regard. I mean it would be a little self destructig to have him fight Rashad (which I think would be a more exciting fight) because if he wins then you have a champ in 2 weight classes which I don't really care for and I don't nessasarily think a champ in a lower weight class should get an instant shot at the title in an upper weight class. If anyone would deserve it would have been him but after his last 2 fights I would think that Dana was stretching it. I think they shold'e waited until after the GSP Thiago fight and had him fight one of the two of them.

I got Silva by TKO. Forest doesn't have the KO power.

Thats EXACTLY what I told my bro.. I didn't feel Forrests hands were heavy enough to beat Silva. ..so then if you look at Forrests striking style, combo's, and footwork, I personally think Silva's timing alone will eat him alive. BUT, I do like Forrest and wish him the best cuz if Silva is not completely "on" that night, Forrest will be the type of fighter to notice and capitalize.

i would love to see forrest kick anderson's ass. I was never a fan of silva's and after his last performance i lost even more respect for him.

I think forrest has a shot and that is if he goes in there and takes down silvia and keeps him down. I would not be surprised at all. I just think that someone like GSP could take him down and keep him down and work him in half guard or even side control. Silvia isn't the hardest guy to take down and GSP IMO is the perfect guy because I think he could stand with him. Pretty much I think the only way your gonna beat Silvia is by taking him down over and over!

Yep, the wet blanket strategy. The problem is that every time you come in to take him down you risk getting your head taken off. Anderson is not a fighter who will miss openings, just look at the Henderson fight. GSP's striking is also a level below Silva's.
