It could go either way but judging from the "new" Penn and looking at this last few fights, I'll have to put my money on BJ Penn.

I can admit that BJ Penn has won some distinctive fights. I can also admit being a grappler he has the skill; and his flexibility is amazing. However BJ Penn is an ass. He whines all of the time and feels if he lost it was due to somebody cheating or some other bogus reason; never himself. He loses fights because of himself and many times due to poor cardio. I dislike him as a person; he's an arrogant ass.

GSP has come a long way from the last fight with him; that he won. BJ's comment that he should have won that fight because he wasn't bleeding is absolutely stupid. Even bleeding and unable to see out of one eye GSP beat him and now that GSP is that much better of a fighter BJ Penn will be challenged even more as BJ Penn is "not" that much better.

The thing with Penn is he doesn't learn from his fights; he just thinks he can win because he is a phenom; but that only goes that far. GSP learns from his fights as can be seen from every loss he has had. When he lost for the first time to Matt Hughes he was winning the fight but made a mistake that Hughes capitalized on. When fighting him twice more GSP dominated him. Grant it Hughes was not the same fighter he was previous when he had these fights; but that same Hughes beat Penn.

Who has Penn fought recently; here's his last fights.

2006 - GSP - he lost

2006 - Matt Hughes - he lost

2007 - Jens Pulver - he won - Pulver once a good fighter no longer; not even a great victory. Pulver had previously lost to a no name in 48 seconds; Joe Lauzon.

2008 - Joe Stevenson - he won - an up and comer that I believe has more to learn and is on his way. Penn's cardio sucked and even after the win had to lean on people ... and that was less then 2 rounds.

2008 - Sean Sherk - he won - actually the best cardio I've seen Penn have. Sherk never fought his game but probably because he wasn't the same fighter he was previously; especially after being tested positive for steroids ... DAH!!!! Sherk was less the fighter then any other fight he had and if he would have fought Penn like he did Tyson Griffin or Kenny Florian; he would have won.

This will be a big test for both fighters. Will Penn train and work hard enough for this fight? What will be GSP's plan against Penn?

GSP has showed the world that though he was not a wrestler he could out wrestler the wrestlers. His stand up IS better then Penn's ... but will have to protect that jaw. While Penn is a great grappler GSP is no slouch and CAN hold his own and that will not be the deciding factor. The only way one is going to win on the ground is if the other makes a mistake. The fight is going to be won standing up ... and I give that to GSP.

The longer GSP stands with BJ the more trouble he will get himself into. His best bet will be his usual dynamic gameplan of striking to set up takedowns, a little ground and pound, then back to the feet, over and over. This is the best way to wear down BJ without giving him time to find his rhythm on the feet or set up a submission.
