hair loss

cashout, some time ago in another hair loss thread you replied that the Rogaine foam could help significantly, do you think i should just start with this? maybe for now if i'm not noticing hair loss yet to help prevent it? i don't want to end up being too late, plus i'm thinking about the possibility of it happening all the time. i wonder if this could work for me to keep my mind off it. or else i don't know maybe i should just start taking proscar though i'm not sure if i should start with the prescribed meds just yet incase i don't have the baldness gene

As I said before to others, I wouldn't start until you notice hair thinning.

Rogaine is an interesting animal in that we don't really know how it works to regrow hair. Some have posed a hypothesis that it is a potassium channeling agent and that is the root of the mechanism but we have yet to actually empirically substantiate any of the actual mechanisms.

So again, I'd not start anything until you see a reason to do so not as a preemptive action.

I'm almost 42 and beside my physique the thing that I get complimented for the most is my long blond hair - I'm sportin' a full on Axl Rose circa 1989 and women tell me all the time that they wish they had a head of hair like mine!

Do these hair loss meds proscar etc. also prevent hair from turning grey? since I was wondering you said you're 42 and have blond hair. I turned 31 a few months ago and starting to get grey hair on my sideburns and it's slightly showing now in chest area etc. I think my grey hair is turning quick since I believe on my dad's side they all had grey hair early on as well.

So does proscar, Finasteride etc. prevent grey hair also?

No. Pigmentation is not affected in any way by 5-AR inhibitors. If you are "going gray" that is a whole differnt matter...
