Heavy --> Light or Light --> Heavy which yields more gains?

Knowledge is Power
I know many do 12x10x8 and such but I can't help but wonder, which direction yields better gains??

Sometimes when I go heavier to start it burns me out more vs when I start out lighter & get heavier.

Is either direction proven to do more? Just curious...

starting heavy without warming up with lighter weight is asking for injuries imo.once warmed up go heavy , heavy , heavy imo.

Exactly, I mean I've tried 6x6x6 and such but just didn't feel right. To me it's always felt good to lift in a 10/8/6 or 8/6/4 range (after a warmup) while adding more weight. I've tried going heavy then dropping down too but it just feels weird to me, sort of like I'm cheating and not pushing myself to heavy enough weight if you know what I mean. Plus people that do pyramid down inevitably pyramid up too beforehand they just usually call those sets "warmups" :laugh4:

This is something that is different for everyone. Trial and error. I personally do heavier to light but do what feels best for you.

For me the best gains come from variations of exercises (light and heavy). I never miss my staple exercises (squats, bent over rows, incline bench, military, press, etc.) The sequence or weight in which I train a body part is never the same week to week.
hope that makes sense.

I have just starte the 5x5 and it seems to be working out pretty well so far... gains are steady... i usually max at 315 bench but i got 275 up for 5 sets of 5 so ill see what i can do next week. it really just depends...yet i do like to switch it up
