This is a very tricky one here!

I am 38 years old, 6ft, 224lbs, 18%bf. My Test levels are 234, so I am very low. I have suffered from very bad anxiety for many years and am currently on 15mg Valium per day, 1mg Klonopin per day and 50mg Celexa per day. I have been on these meds for 11 years to help with anxiety, trouble is I am still having trouble leading a normal life, I am too anxious to work, I cant drive more than 4-5 miles from my home, cant go in to shops etc etc.

I really do want to start testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) but I am scared it may make my anxiety worse......Any help on this would be great, thanks in advance

Well, if it makes you feel better I have stopped my Klonopin and Xanax usage COMPLETELY since starting TRT. You would be surprised at how many facets of your life revolve around proper hormone balances. Take the plunge, you'll be happily surprised with how damn good you feel and how many of the troubles that once occupied so much of your time simply melt away.

My .02c :)

Thank you for the reply mate.

With my Test being so low I wonder if that could be causing some of the issues I have like anxiety, feel low, tired, no motivation, very low sex drive, abdominal weight gain etc?

This looks like the typical list of Low T symptoms. Get on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) as soon as you can. You won't regret it. I had the same anxiety about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that you have. It took me a few months before I could get up the courage to take that 1st shot. After I took a few shots the anxiety went away and I never looked back.

The key to getting over anxiety is to do what you're afraid of, a little bit at a time. For instance, if you can only drive 5 miles from your home, go 5 1/2 miles everyday until your comfortable with it. Then go 6 miles until your comfortable with that. Then just keep going further until you get to a point where you can drive anywhere. A few years ago I could only drive to work and straight back home. I started to force myself into driving uncomfortable distances until it became obvious I wasn't going to panic anymore. I recently drove 3000 miles round trip, all alone. Then I did it again 3 weeks later. I actually enjoyed it.

I know it's scary as hell when your anxiety acts up, but the payoff of getting over it is well worth the trouble. But you must force yourself to do things you're uncomfortable with. Just do it at your own pace. It's OK to get a little anxious about going an extra mile, but you don't want to put yourself in a full blown panic attack by trying to go 100 miles the 1st day. Go 5 1/2 or 6 miles, then pull into a parking lot (car park?) at one of those shops you can't go to. Pull right back out of the parking lot and head home. Eventually you'll be driving much farther, and actually going in the shops.

What helped me was supplementing with B vitamins. Especially pantothetic acid and B12. I also ramped up my Magnesium 2000mg/day.

If you can't get more than 5 miles from your house and you have that low a T level you need T in my opinion.

Thank you so much for the great and helpful replies, really does mean a lot to me.

Ok.....I need to get some 25 gauge pins and 2ml syringes and start doing me Test (Sust 250)

I am going to go for a drive now after reading this as I feel more positive.

I was suffering from the exact same symptoms as you, minus the abdominal fat gain. I've only been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for 2 months now, however, I feel much much better. I was on paroxetine 10mg daily for anxiety and mild depression for many years. I have already started to taper off my ssri's because I feel a lot better. Take the plunge, you will never regret it!

I have been dealing with an injury from hell for over several years now. Because of stress, all the BS I have dealt with over the injury, not sleeping, mentally I have been a wreck. One of docs wanted to try all these anti depressant, anxiety meds, off label stuff etc. None of it helped me and some made other issues worse.

I've been playing around with testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for a few years since finding out the opiates shut my T levels down. The testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) was never dosed properly and no AI's. Since getting my testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) sqaured away properly now. Wow what a diffence is all I can say. I actually feel calm gor first time since getting hurt. I am slowly starting to feel like myself again. Its was a life changer for me.
Good luck to you. There is research out there if you talk to right people about it. Be it actual patients with similair symptoms who went on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) or clinics that have documented how its helped or didnt help people with similiar.

No doubt you would benefit from testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), but there seems to be an underlying problem in your life. I myself was on xanax, celexa, and amitriptyline when I was in my early 20's..turns out my problem was my husband..not my problem anymore, and no longer on my meds ;)

Not long been back from a round trip of 22 miles.....Very pleased with myself but feel a bit shaky now. I have just taken 1mg of Klonopin so that should chill me out soon! I think from reading the helpful replies above has given me hope thus me doing my 22 miles so thanks everyone.

Being in the UK is very very hard to get TRT.....I have seen 4 Doctors over the past 15 months and they all say my figures are 'normal'.....The lowest I have been is 224 and highest being 240....I have had 7 blood tests over the past 15 months and still they will not help me.... so I am going to self prescribe as I know a guy who runs a very large UGL, all proper stuff so all good there. Was thinking of using Test Cyp at 150mg per week and Arimidex at 0.5mg E3D. I have told my Dr I am going to self medicate, he is ok with that and will do my bloods every 8 weeks.

Neat that your doc will at least do the bloods, I suppose if you crashed your TT lower he might have prescribed testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), but you can get everything you need anyway.

You could even go with a 30 guage 1/2mL insulin pin....and pin 75mg every 3.5 days so that you have the best chance of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) working for you....it does take almost a minute to load that small of pin but they are pretty painless.

Sounds like you have a good plan...you might want to try Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) sometime, some guys really like it and some don't feel they need it.

Friggin awesome! In 1 day you doubled your range. Keep it going and it will get better every day.

And good for you on getting your own test & arimidex. It looks like you're starting with a good protocol.

Thank you mate! I have been to the petrol station today so a round trip of about 15 miles......Felt ok but got a feeling of panic about halfway and felt like turning back but I carried on. Also thanks for saying about sorting out my own Test. It is from a UGL but this UGL is excellent, in fact I know one of the guys that owns it! They seem to sell heaps of Dianabol tabs, think that must be for the kids out there who have joined a gym and think by taking a few d.bol will turn them in to Arnold overnight, lol!!

G day mate

I have Low T which I found out about 5 years ago. Since my mid teens I have battled anxiety and depression so I know how you feel although my worries are different than yours.

Unfortunately with alot of Doctors the minute you talk about testosterone they shit their pants and have no intention of helping even if it is low. I have been through the same shit.

You need to see a men's health doctor someone who specializes in such matters.

You need to understand the treatment options with the pros and cons so you are well informed.

Since being on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) I have found it has not really altered how I feel mentally but improved me physically where I was not tired or putting on any fat.

But this may be different for you. Anxiety is one of the many symptoms of Low T.

Look of a specialist in the UK someone who is not afraid to treat you.
