I'm on high bp medication(lisinopril). Do they ask about that? Do I tell them I'm on trt?
Iron? That is weird. Are you sure they didn't check your hemoglobin?
What's your TT and Estradiol level?
She said iron. She pricked my finger, put blood on a plastic slide looking thing, and put it in a machine. Then came back and said my iron was 16.4. She said I have good iron.

They checked hemoglobin. Not iron.
Are iron and hemoglobin related? Maybe she was just saying iron, so she wouldn't have to explain to me what hemoglobin is.She's either has no idea what's she was talking about or you heard it wrong my man..16.4 would be hemoglobin, puts you at a average reading. Normal for men is 13.8-17.2 g/dl. You could have low iron levels due to low hemoglobin, but you would have never made it to donate if your "hemoglobin test" was not adequate.
haha..Bigben I just meniscus surgery on my knee 2 weeks ago and thought about the same thing.Slight tangent here....
I've just had an hour long operation on my tricep/elbow - just wondering how much blood I would have lost during the op?
I know I was tourniqued throughout, but surely I'd have lost at least a pint?
I had a 4 inch incision made - this wasn't a keyhole procedure.
Saying this with HCT lowering in mind
(Is it sad that I'm thinking of lowering HCT with my fookin' arm in plaster?)
It is important for blood donors to understand how hemoglobin may be affected by the level of iron in your blood. Read below to learn more detailed information.
hey 4150..no worries man. Can you reply back to my pm? If not ill pm you my email as it would be easier than posting in a thread. Dont want to hijack a thread. ThanksHey Mr. Satchmo, sorry to butt into your conversation and change the subject, but I got your message and I am really interested in the contact info and price for your clinic. I tried to message back but I don't think it was working so I had to stalk you a bit and found you here. Thanks man!
I'm pretty friendly with the gals down at the red cross, and they cover their ears when I calculate my HCT from the hemoglobin test.
How do you calculate HCT from hemoglobin?
